I just upgraded from 768MB of brand x ram to 2GB, 2x 1GB dual channel sticks of Corsair ram. Now, whenever I try and do anything it takes longer than before. The biggest difference has been when I'm playing Battlefield 2. Before I "upgraded" my computer, I was getting upwards of 50 frames per second on medium settings. Now, on the exact same settings I'm getting maybe 30.

I switched back to my old ram and it works just fine, so I don't need to defrag, run anti spyware/virus scans. I'm really confused, I mean, it's more ram than I had before, and It's faster than my old ram, so logically things should work better...Any help would be appreciated.

The ram I bought can be found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145575

Did you Clear CMOS before putting in the new sticks? You sure they're running in dual channel etc?

Yeah it looks like your computer still thinks you're running on 1 stick and they're slowing each other down.

No I didn't and no I'm not. Somebody want to walk me through that?

Yeah, check your manual and make sure they are in the right slots for running dual channel memory. Also go into bios and look for a memory setting that you can set to T1 (T1 is much faster than T2). If you do take the memory sticks out and put them back in, just remember to unplug the PC from the wall to prevent static shock.

What is your system anyway?

Thanks for the advice guys. I did what you all said and it seems to be working fine now. Battlefield 2 runs without so much as a hiccup.

Asus: Pentium 4 3.2ghz | MSI 865PE Neo2-V | 2GB PC3200 | GeForce 6800GT | really old shitty cd drive | really old shitty 40GB hard drive | 15in Gateway LCD monitor

Like most people here, I'm shure, I built it myself. That's another reason this was so frustrating, this is the first real problem I've had with it so far, and it turned out to be something relatively simple. Thanks again for your advice guys, I really appreciate it.
