The comments at the bottom of the page are annoying. Not one of those people accept that there is a chance that this test indicates that men actually are smarter than women. (I'm not saying this is the case...) They bring up that IQ tests are "skewed towards white men of European origin" (thanks to Roanne of Derby, UK), while not seeming to consider that perhaps white men are actually smarter. Women and non-europeans are indignant about this supposition, and white men deny it out of political correctness. I do not assume this is actually the case, but there are many differences between the races, both genetically and culturally. Possibly inflammatory, dont read if easily offended: I have noticed a tendency towards this in my experience.

I believe men have more extremes than women. The smartest people are men, the dumbest people are men (just ask a women for proof of the latter)

IQ only measures certain intelligence skills.

And by the way, they once did IQ tests on aborigenes and found they had higher IQs, most likely because they spend their lives dealing with pattern and logic problems in order to survive. So yeah, women < men < aborigenes. Says enough about how much IQ matters.

I'm stupid, I admit that, but I have come across stupider women. There is no point in putting this into a logical choice, some people are just going to be dumber than others, its all to do with effort and determination and nurture not nature

5 points isn't much at all. But with all the randomness of what IQ a person has the averages where never going to be identicle.

This is where a lot of people simply don't understand what the study is about because they don't take the time to understand the findings or even read past the general headline of the study. It says that men scored higher than women on IQ tests on average.

However what so many fail to realize (which is what makes this study seem so controversial) is that IQ is actually a poor way of seeing how "intelligent" someone is. The same researchers have also said that women tend to use the resources that their brain offers more efficiently than men and that is something that they cannot test for in this same way.

Comparing the intelligence of men and women is like using that classic apples and oranges comparison. Our brains can do the same things but they often do them in very different ways. You can never say one is more intelligent than the other because men and women are better at different things.
