Metal Gear Solid: Movie Confirmed

Oh no...

I have very little faith in movie remakes of video games. This can't possibly be any good.

Yeah tell me about it

also i want to rename the thread:

WE GOT MOTHER****IN SOLID SNAKE!

Is that actually real? How reliable is actiontrip?

Quite... actually but we will see who knows havent seen it pop up anywhere else tho...

We've known this for a while now. Uwe Boll supposedly was reading the script in January, but he will thankfully not be doing this one.

Unfortunately, neither will Park Chanwook, the director of the awesome Oldboy. I was so hoping he would!! Oh well, I don't have much faith in any game-to-movie conversion, so I guess we'll wait and see and if its bad its no surprise, but if its good, then its all just gravy!

I could swear Hideo Kojima had said he didn;t really want to do a movie. Of course if they do make one they better use David Hayter as Snake. If they don't the film will f*cking fail.

Yeah he did. I can remember reading in an interview saying that Metal Gear is virtually a movie, whats the point?

If Hideo's involved in the project, then it could be good.

Chan-wook Park = Oldboy + MGS awesome stuff
It can't be bad movie...
Maybe it will be first good game movie :)

Well the cutscenes and story are already very cinematic. The writing in-game is top notch so I think it could translate very easily to a movie. Hell, they could even use screens from the game as story boards.

Hopefully Hideo is gonna be there to keep the film's creation under control.

If anyone should direct it should be Hideo. He's the only one that could truly do it right. Of course I don;t know how you're supposed to compress a 15+ hour game into a 2 hour movie

I beat the first game in about 10 hours the first time. The 2nd time I went through the game I beat it in like 4 hours. Once you're good with the gameplay and know exactly where to go, it's a quick game.

EDIT: I like that Christian Bale is interested in Snake, he'd fit the role well I think.

Eric Bana has the looks and military character experience to fit the part as well

Also just an idea, I think Milla Jovovich at least LOOKS like Meryl in this pic

If Raiden is in the story the movie can't go wrong.

Milla doesn;t have the breasts for Meryl, nor does she have the butt.

I dunno, David Hayter IS the voice of Snake. And he could pull off the looks as well.

I'm with you, it'd be great if he did it. From the sounds of things he probably won't though. I bet he'll be like the character advisor or something.

All i can say is i hope they make it SPOT on. Other then that whatever...

Like Halo, they need someone big and amazingly talented to do this. David Fincher or something.

It looks like Hideo might actually use a lot of his team for this one, including himself. I think the transition from game to movie directing would be easy for him as he has a very clear vision and implements it flawlessly each time!
*crosses fingers*

Yeah, their idots. Hes the executive-producer. I don't understand why everyone is making a big deal about Peter Jackson being behind the project, he only funds the project, thats it IRC.

Because it's not looking like thats going to be the case. Some executive-producers only do that, but Jackson's attitude towards the project suggests that he's going to be as hands on as he can.

I am thinking anthony hopkins

But seriously, I don't think this is going to work unless they change the story quite a bit. A more realistic (not completely though) story while still keeping to the same basic plot would be best in my opinion.

Tbh, MGS explained almost everything in the games with some form of fact, although it's usually far-fetched, it's explained.

Plus MGS is already structured as a movie, it's just a matter of finding what to do with the 13 seconds you actually spend playing the game and not watching FMV's

Yes, but i can't help think that some of the things that took place in the in-game FMV's might come across as a bit...cheesy in a live action film. Even though they were fine in the game.

Bah, game movies always suck, every single one: Tomb Raider, Doom, AvP...

lol, they should call this "Solid Snakes on a Plane!!"

Those were games that weren't based around a driving, compelling story. AvP was a movie based on a game based on some movies. That's like making a crappy translation of a translation :P

I personally can't wait to hear more about the MGS movie.

OMG :) :) :)

I just bought MGS for NGC :D
lol dis makes want to finish it now^^

Well here is my opinion.

1.) yes the cutscenes are top-notch... for a game. They wouldn't translate well at all to a movie. You'd just be looking at another mid-90s kinda big fiery explosion tom selleck movie.

2.) the writing is atrocious. Just about the worst voice acting AND script writing I have ever heard in my entire life.

3.) Hopefully Kojima is barred from the set. He's probably busy masturbating and thinking about himself anyway. He is really not that special - if he was so great and epic and cinematic, he would be making movies already, not creating a nerd-legend status for himself via some mediocre video game series. They need a real film director who knows what he's doing rather than some squirelly little moron who is way way way way way too into himself when he shouldn't be.

Does anyone else at all think Kojima shouldn't even be allowed to attend the premier? I do think he should get a free t-shirt though. That much at least...

Well, I dont feel quite that strongly about it...but I do agree the the writing is not of great quality and wouldn't translate well into a movie.

EDIT: My english teacher never liked me.

Kojima isn't a brilliant writer. He's good, but his dialouge needs alot of work.

That would be ****ing sweet if done right, but i have fath.
