Metroid Prime 3 Delayed, Screens Released

You had me worried there - just a 7 day delay.

I've very high hopes for Corruption. It's no.1 on my, 'I must have this ****ing game right now godamnit'!! list.

The title scared the crap out of me :/

Aye, that was a crapper for a second there.

Still, looks bucking great.

I had already heard about the delay so I wasn't scared. :O

I am, however, completely excited about this one and can't wait to see it running on my TV. My Wii has by no means been gathering dust though--RE4 and Harry Potter have been making quick work of that, not to mention Super Paper Mario and Rayman. Its my current system of choice.

Oh how I long for a Wii to play this game. I wish it had been delayed; solely to spite Warbs.

Hmm. I dunno, but I may end up picking up a Wii just for this :p

:P

Living in pal country we have to wait extra months anyways :/

It's always been this way with Nintendo - the eu gets the finger time after time.

I don't get why other FPS games can't copy what MP3 is doing. Everything I've heard points to this game having great control and all the other Wii shooters have meh to bleh control.

Still can't wait for this one. 1 weeks isn't bad.

I'm starting to think that nintendo's EU support is worse than Sony's.

Love Metroid in all its 2D forms. But I never got on with Primes 1, 2 and Hunters. I'll still get this though. Be mad to miss it. :E

Singleplayer will more than make up for it,

That's still not an excuse. I'm starting to believe Nintendo hates the interwebs. :(

As much as I loved (and I do mean LOVED) the first two "Primes," I don't have a Wii, and don't plan on getting one for some time. I'll have to see how it is, and depending on its addictive traits, I might have to buy the system and game.

That's still not an excuse.

Nope, here's the better one: a game does not need multiplayer for the sake of having multiplayer. If the project is about the single-player portion and single-player portion alone then there is no reason to do multiplayer for the 'sake'. There is no excuse here, just how things should be. The day developers require a multiplayer game in their package will be a sad one.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I am sick and tired of games that require MP to sell copies.

Look at the darkness for the 360 that just came out. It is my fav 360 game has an amazing SP and a tacked on MP that is possibly the laggiest I have ever played. Do I care? No, because I am bored with MP in games and the ideals that is a reqirement in games. (especially at the amount of people who hate bioshock because it has no MP in it)

I agree with Samon here. The focus should always be in single player with Metroid Prime. Any multiplayer would be a bolted on afterthought and most likely be rather crappy.

As somebody who didn't care for the other Metroid Prime games, I still can't say I'm excited for this (although it does look good).

However, if this game proves that an FPS can be done well on the Wii, I'll be tempted to pick up the console.

I hate NoE. They suck bawls, more then Sony ever could.

It took them 2 years to release Metroid Pinball for the DS here. What a bloody joke.

I didn't say it's required, I just think it would be nice. I enjoyed Echoes's multiplayer a fair bit. Besides, when is the last time you heard of a Nintendo game with online multiplayer? It would be a nice change, and would a first person shooter that supposedly actually has good Wiimote controls be so absurd?

Looks pretty sweet. Looking much better than last time I saw it.

The first Metroid Prime sucked so much I could not stand playing it. I never cared for part 2 and don't care about a part 3. It kinda sucks that it's lasting as long as it is.

Totally ruined the Metroid games.

I know how you feel, as I'm in the same boat. I thought that Prime was cool in so many ways, but I just couldn't stand the lock-on targeting. It's basically an insult to have someone (the computer) aim for me. After playing FPS on a PC, it was really patronizing, and I've done nothing but hope they change it since.

But with the Wii-mote, it might be fun again. I'm going to wait for reviews of the final product before I say anything about the controls.

They aren't going to make a 2D metroid game for anything but hand-helds anymore dude, so you can just get one of those. I've seen Gameboy Advance games used for like $5 and up.

I don't even so much mind the auto-aim. It's the total feeling of non-fun and extreme boringness that the game brought to the table for me that makes me hate it. As I mentioned in the "Most disappointing gaming monents" thread, it felt as if I was being forced to play the game. I literally just went through it go get done with it so I'd never have to play it again.

The game just thrives on all the little "classic" moments with the lil theme music here and there and certain recognizable enemies. Thats all it has along with totally boring game play that makes you walk to the farthest corners of the map as soon you do an ojective. And man oh man did it take ages walking those long distances...ugghhh

I couldn't even finish it. I didn't get very far. I had fun beating the plant boss, and I didn't get much further. I was only playing it because I felt like I should be having fun. Everyone else says that it was great, so I kept trying to like it. I loved it with a passion, and hated it with a passion at the same time. It blew my mind in some ways, but I couldn't really enjoy it for all of the walking around repeating the same areas trying to find the way thing.

I just don't have time for games that are hard anymore. If I get stuck, I just quit. That's that. I've been stuck on FEAR and PREY, and I haven't played them since. When I was a child on summer vacation, it was OK that If I died I had to start all the way back at the last save point, and I could screw around in the same areas searching for the way for hours - but I don't have that kind of time anymore. For one thing, there weren't many other choices for similar games back in the NES days. Now Metroid has become a game in the gigantic sea of FPS's.

enough ranting from me. It's an old Gamecube game, and it was the first 3D Prime game, so let's see what they come up with this time.

How exactly did you manage to get stuck in Prey?

Shit, I forgot the name of the level. It's not real far into the game.

There is two faces to a cliff, and you have to spirit walk to see the invisible walkway to the other side. Did that.

there is a place to flip the world upside-down, walk down a hall, and then I'm on this ledge, and I couldn't figure out how to get to the other side. I see the floor flipper triggers, but I has no ammo. :( The gun recharges slowly, but shooting them has no effect. Do I need ammo for the other gun to trigger these things? I guess I have to restart the level?

It's not far after, and is interconnected to the place where you have to input the code to open the door.

I tried looking online for a good help website, but I don't want 1000 spoilers in my face, which is what websites seem to have.

Most complaints about the Prime series levelled at it in this thread are true. Back-tracking in a 3D game is arduous. The game is more fun with a walkthrough where you can just enjoy it.

Fusion was the best in the series. But too short. I can complete it on a 3 hour plane flight now. :D

Same here. Great game :D

There's not too much backtracking in Metroid Prime. Along with the snes version this is my fave in the series - I don't think i've ever played a game with a better atmosphere.

Oh no, Metroid Prime wasn't another generic run-and-gun shooter! Your guys' complaints about it sound absolutely ridiculous...

I agree...

And who mentioned Prey? That game sucked. I can manage to engross myself in a tattered old slipper more than I can that game.

Oh no, Metroid Prime wasn't another generic run-and-gun shooter!

Nobody said that. .. ;)

I know what I said. I think I said the opposite of that. Where almost every (generic) FPS has quick saves, and precise mouse aim, this game has clunky aim and had far away checkpoints. I would have liked it to be more generic in that respect.

I said, basically, that they took the winning 2D formula from the previous Metroid games that I loved, and Nintendo created their first... First Person Shooter. They did a great job for their first effort - especially as a FPS on the game cube, and the effects of humidity and stuff like that were amazing.

I said that there is a huge amount of FPS out there, well, on the PC anyway. For example, I bought this game (Metroid Prime) after I had bought Half-Life2, and well...

I didn't like the controls at all, in metroid prime.

I couldn't always find the right way to go, making it boring.

And I said If you die, you have to start way back at your last checkpoint, which of course makes the game harder, and more repetitive (unlike quick saves) This is the way Metroid always was, and I didn't mind it then, but I mind it now.

I still say Nintendo should make Prime for the PC, with mouse control. weeeeee. One can dream.
