Metroid Prime. Well I completed the game the other day and I must say WOW! Retro Studio's just got a new fan. I love their work and will support all of their games in the future. I only just got my Gamecube a few months ago and didn't buy any games until last month. Everything about that game oozes legendary. The level design, sound and atmosphere are all simply amazing.

I give it a 10 out of a 10. The only thing I noticed that was imperfect was some minor clipping. But I wouldn't dare take a point off for that. What are you thoughts on the game?

I loved it. It's definitely my favorite Gamecube game. I thought it was pretty awesome that it managed to stay so much like the previous Metroids, especially in that you can progress in different ways that aren't immediately obvious. Oh, that and the MUSIC! 'Twas awesome entering "Norfair II" (sorry I forgot the actual name ) and hearing the music redone.

The music was awesome! Ahh metroid makes me love nintendo and makes me not want to sell my gc. Cant wait for the sequel.

Yes the music was fantastic. I beat the game at only 73% done meaning there must be 27% more exploring to do. I should go and search for the secrets.

Yes, a very good game. Especially when viewed as Retro's debut effort. Although there was a little too much back-tracking twoards the end for my taste.

Damn good. From the control system to the graphics and immersiveness, a definate 10. Can't wait until Metriod Prime II, or whatever it's going to be called.

I think it was a very good blend of the traditional (The Metroid-style gameplay and graphical style) and innovation (The new controls, technology and graphics. Not to mention a deeper storyline, with all that information to download.).

Back tracking yes was a bitch. Thankfully for the morph-ball it became a bit faster. But they did include multiple elevators to reach different regions which was good.

Yaya more GC fans. my m8 says that prime is repetitive and boring but im glad so many ppl disagree. Metroid Prime is a gr8 game because instead of (like most developers) slapping on a difficuly setting and just making the game steadily harder while u progress, Prime has 1 tutorial level then cranks up the difficulty and keeps it that way untill the final boss, when it goes through the roof.
The thing about backtracking is its still fun, coz u get practice at blasting ppl and it helps u to think... "oh yes, I KNOW HOW TO GET UP THERE NOW!!! 5 mins later f*ck... wish i hadnt done that... i KNEW it was too high..."

metriod prime gets a  and 10/10 from me. i found the combat abit easy sometimes, some of the boses were too easy. but amazing game..

hey whats the popular fps game on the xbox? cant remember it

Metroid Prime is IMHO maybe the best FPS (puzzle and an adventure game also though) ever created, the only thing that's bad with it is the backtracking maybe, but it didn't stop me from playing it.

:)

I thought it was crap.
I stopped when I noticed there was almost no story. Also, it does feel repetative and boring to me as well.

Anyone else think those Metroids are just annoying? Especially the heavier ones that appears far in the game, you can only kill them with the right weapons.

As an example, if you see a Purple Metroid, kill him with the Plasma Gun (don't remember the exact names of the weapons) etc.

Zakat, you know I kept asking myself that when I was playing; "is this game better than Halo". I couldn't really answer that because they both offer extreme fun factor and for the fact that Metroid is missing vehicles made it tougher to decide. So I just came to the conclusion that they cannot beat each other as they are drastically different. Metroid focuses on dense first person in your face action. While Halo provides that with the intensity of epic guerilla warfare with vehicles. In the end they are both really ****ing wild games and I love Retro and Bungie for giving them to us. The sequels will undoubtedly blow the world away as they are pushing the envelope.

The metroids are ****ing little pricks. I remember I just got my thermal goggles and had extremely low health and had to climb up some stairs to reach a door at the top. The metroids busted out of windows and attacked me viciously and I died. I forgot to save for sometime and had to redo a lot of the game. I learned a lesson from it all though; always save even if the save point is back a bit, it's worth it. Upon beating the game I unlocked a hard mode, I haven't tried it yet but I hear it is tough.

The metroids are bastards. What's the bet that we meet Beta through Omega metroids in Prime II...?

No bets, I have a feeling we will. I mean they need to push the envelope with MP2 simply because the gamers will want more of the same and heaps more of the new.

I hope we not meet another Omega Pirate in MP2, he's freaking hard!!

Yeah, hard mode is just that: really, really hard.
I just haven't been able to beat Metroid Prime yet on that setting, hes too tough.
And its definitly a 10/10 in my book too.

I don't know if it would even be all that fun on the PC....

Shout! I don't have GC and I heard that that game was pretty fun. Is that the one where you are in this robot and you get tons of weapons (is that the one with 40 of em?) and you blast your way through levels?

Same thing with me! One of the first games I bought when I got the $100 Gamecube/Zelda bundle. It also made me its bitch, in so doing I've also started to follow Retro Studios like I do Valve, Raven, Blizzard, and Id.

Metroid: Prime is an excellent game and now Retro Studios is working on Metroid: Prime 2. I haven't finished it yet but I love the solitary and isolated game mood along with the fact that you're constantly getting stronger and stronger as you encounter new enemies. In my book this beats Halo anyday, truely an original fps formula that was meant for consoles.

Halo was, by most standards today, simply a mediocre PC game that was stunning at its debut. It had console fans gawking at the graphics and driveable vehicles, but when you come back to it years later on the PC it doesn't hold up to its legacy. Metroid: Prime is quite the opposite by being a truely classic game that'll stand the test of time for several years to come (probably 4 more years).

TONS of story if you scan every possible object/artifact/etc.. other than that, if you blast by, it's a Metroid game, which always lack a progressive story

Anyhow, yep I agree, 10/10.. great game, got it when it first came out.. loads of fun

It's just Metroid Prime... no ':' in thar!

Sorry, that bothered me. :o

More or less. You're not a robot, though, you're a lady bountyhunter called Samus Aran, who wears a majorly butt-kicking armoured suit that can be upgraded.

There aren't exactly 40 weapons. You get the Pulse, Wave, Plasma, Ice and Phazon beams, plus Missles, Super Missles, and Bombs that can be used in Morph-Ball mode. The Missles and Beams go together for special combo attacks, though, which effectively raises the number of weapons.

Actually, as far as I can tell csmighty1 is talking about Ratchet and Clank. :D
Theres another thread on that, but that ones on the Playstation, is a platformer, and is also a ton of fun.

Halo will be around for years. It has been and still continues.

oooooohhh i just cant wait till halo 2.... halo 1 was so fun!

Yes of course, Halo 2 will be the best. I mean Bungie know how to make sequels.
