Mic works fine in windows, but not in CS:s

Right so i have a labtec microphone. It is one the i put infront of my keyboard so the mic is about 3-5 inches from my mouth. When i record a message in windows it works fine, quality is great. But when i play CS:s, people say that it sounds like i'm underwater??

I don't know what this would be from. My voice comm button is caps lock, would that have something to do with it? I don't know why it would. Thanks for any help.

I'd say it's due to the compression they use for voice transmission. Not much you can do if that's the case. You can compress the shit out of someone talking and it'll still be understandable, but it will sound like... well... not very good.

I just hate it because it worked fine in 1.5 and 1.6

I have the same problem at times. Works in Windows, works in TS, but does not work in in CSS. Mine works now, but my brother's computer that I just setup does not.

I have found the ingame chat to stink though... anyone can come in and spam, so I just turn it off anyhow.

i tested it in both.

I think i might know what the problem is, i need to play with headphones if i want to use a mic.

My speakers are so loud and the subwoofer is so powerful that i get some serious feedback when i use it because of the bass from the sub.

i cant stand headsets, I prefer real big/loud sound , so i use a desktop mic.
