Michael Atkinson on R18 rating in Australia

Good Game, the Australian gaming TV show, had an interview with Michael Atkinson, the guy who decides the ratings for us. The point of the interview was why he wasn't allowing an R rating (as you'd expect). His main point is that he doesn't see why we need an R rating to have a good game. Were it not for the resubmission, that logic would have denied us Fallout 3!

I like his little 'moolah' gesture that he seems to think is an argument-clincher.

Well conducted little piece, even if they didn't press him on anything, because it's difficult to get people like Atkinson to show their face on any platform for discussion which they perceive to be even remotely hostile to their views. They managed to rebut all his points with material from other sources, so it still appears as a balanced piece while he still comes off as an obvious idiot.

Good luck in overcoming his BS, aussies. From what he's saying it sounds like it's only a matter of time before the new rating is implemented.

Yeah I know that show. Biased ****tards haven't a clue what they're doing. Oh and Atkinson is an idiot the reason in the OPs summary is not his real reason for blocking R18. It's very simple Atkinson you're the only dickwad against R18, stop being a party pooper. Video games are just another form of media they are not any different to say watching the SAW series from start to finish. The sad part being any kid could easily buy that collection without a parent.
