I play alot of BF2 and want to setup my PC like a 360

Basically I want a headset like the 360s which I can use to do ingame chat, and my 5.1 speakers work as normal. I dont want to hear peoples in game chat through the 5.1 speaker, just in the headset

Can this be done?

why hear people with headphones on and have your surround sound going to. Get a good pair of 5.1 surround sound headphones with a mic.

5.1 headphones? So you're saying you can get headphones with 5 satellites and a subwoofer? O:

I got those eDimensional FX Pro 5.1 with/through the ads here on the site. It works quite well, though not perfect. Volume seems to have krept up and I can't figure out how to turn it down.

If I were you though, just get a stereo headset. 5.1 is useless when the ears are isolated, even at 3 speakers per ear.

The easiest way of doing this elrasho, is to buy a set of USB Headphones. The Headphones have an in-built driver/audio chip that allows the computer to recognize them through the USB port. When you have bought your set, it will automatically set itself up, but the next part is a bit tricky...

This will allow you to use the microphone.

And this will enable voice playback to be transmitted to your headset.

It works for me in Hl2 and other Source games, as well as MSN etc.
USB is the way to go, hope this helped :D

I'll have to plug my speakers back in and see if I can get them to work while my headset is running. I'll have an answer tomorrow.

Thanks for that, can you recommend me some USB headsets? Im looking for headset that just covers one ear, like the xbox 360 headset

Yes...you can even get simulated 7.1 remember you don't need to generate so much *boom* when the thing is sitting next to your ear.

OK ive managed to setup my Trust Spaccam 320 with built in mic.

Ive tested it using the 'BattleCommo' in BF2.... I get really bad feedback since the the mic is playing the sound back through my 5.1 speakers!! Granted the quality of the mic is very poor

My Audigy will not allow me to prioritize applications manually. All sounds are defaulted to either headset or speakers unless an application specifically calls for either device.
Unless your game supports headset prioritized radio, you can't use both for a sound source.
This is in Vista. Xp may differ, but it's unlikely.
