For some reason my microphone plays though my speakers. Obviously this is not something I want to have happen but am not sure how to fix the problem. My sound card is in my sig and i'm plugging the mic directly into the correct input on the sound card.

Any ideas?

what are you using it for because that is too vague for me to focus on what you need

why don't you want your mic to play through your speakers? How will you know if it is even working?

I'm assuming you using it for recording. Turn down your speakers or use a headphone monitor (one ear flips over)

I guess whenever you speak through a Mic, it does supposed to play back your voice through speakers, isn't it?

I am also lost in his description of what it is that he says is wrong. :rolling:

For whatever it worth: If your mic is too close to the speaker your speakers will echo even if you turn down the speaker volume. using headphone is your best option or separate sound card.

Good Luck.

I've had it before where I didn't actually hear myself. I didn't know this was supposed to happen, but if theres no way around it, ah well.

I only use it for games and VOIP.

I remember I had it at one point where it wasn't playing through the speakers, just don't remember what I did.

What the heck are you talking about? What microphone are you using? What program are you using?

I've never had input from a mic play directly through the speakers in any program. If I could do this, especially if I didn't have latency, it would make recording a heck of a lot easier.

^ If I turn on my mic, it plays through my speakers, as long as my computer is on.

Must be a X-Fi thing

sometimes I use it to growl at my iguana to mess with him. He looks all around hehe <3

Double click the speaker item in your tray, click the options menu, click "properties", make sure on "adjust volume for:" the playback radio button is selected, scroll down to the microphone check box, make sure it's checked. Click ok, then make sure "microphone" is muted.

This won't actually mute your mic, it'll just make sure it won't play through your speakers.

or if you don't have the volume icon in your tray, just find it in the control panel.

Thanks Miccy

Very useful tip.

Thanks MiccyNarc!

I award you 5 golden stars
