Microsoft gets RRoD at GDC

Yawn, I have both a 360, PS3, and now a Wii, and I like it that way, so meh.:>

And yet again, Microsoft weren't keeping the 360 in optimum position there.

They were having it stand up vertical, and in an encolsed glass casing.

Anyone with half a brain can figure out that that is very bad for dissipating heat from the console.

I'm fairly certain a PS3 in the exact same condition, atleast one, would have stopped working from heat 'exhaustion'.
 
Reminds me of the Sony laptop battery disasters.
 
Meh, it was bound to happen. I dont see how this is special. I like my 360 and PS3 and Wii. They all have weak spots.
 
Yeah, that seems like a ridiculous oversight on someone's part. Is that an elite or no?

And hey, what weak spots does the Wii have??!! :flame:
 
I don't understand how this makes the 360 a piss-poor product but I loled.

Sorry...your wrong. How does one console going bad at the GDC prove that everything microsoft makes it garbage? It doesn't it's just funny that it happened. However...having no games and riiiiiidge raaacer being a front runner is horrible. I will gladly take the console with a higher failure rate over a console that doesn't have a fun game for it.
 
Don't act like this is an isolated incident. A recent consumer report put the 360 at a 16% failure rate, which goes up even more after the one year mark. That is bad. This is an example of it happening in a public area with MS's own demo unit. It's funny, but it's representative of a large problem.

As a consumer you shouldn't be so accepting of this, and you probably won't be when it happens to you.
 
I own a 360 and I lol'd. Honestly, the console is great, but it is a bit shit failure-wise. Anyone who's ever had to return one more than once will agree.

Anyway, this is just tradition for MS. It's like bluescreen 2.0.

You don't strike me as very mature or intelligent. Are you a teenager? Did you buy it with your own money? Most people care when expensive equipment dies on them.

My household has all three consoles, and to be honest I've gotten more use out the the 360 recently than the PS3/Wii. That really is besides the point though ... I don't need to justify myself to you. If you won't or can't respond to a point then you should probably just be quiet so you'll look less like an ignorant and uninformed ass.
 
I bought my 360 with my own money, as well as my computer which I spent 2000 euro on.

You don't strike me as very mature to judge someone you've never met based of a five word post.

I've seen you take every decent chance you get to bash the 360, so why can't I bash you for a bit?
 
My 360 died on me once. Yeah, it sucks, but in the long run, it has all the great games I want to play that all the other consoles don't. That completly outbalances it in my own personal opinion.
 
I paid for my 360, ps3, wii and PC.

I love my 360. It had to get repaired once and it is from launch but I don't care because IMO it is easily the best of the 3 consoles. I don't use my PS3 often but with 2008 that might change a little with mgs 4. My wii I am going to sell as I don't like any of the games, haven't used it in months and generally hate it. The only console I have regretted buying and my first and last nintendo console.

Oh ok...so because a couple people have to send their 360s into xbox for free repair and end up getting a free month of xbl or something else that means I should throw my 360 out of the window? Are you kidding? My 360 has lasted me until launch and I haven't had any problems. Not only that it has all of the fun games. So what if some people have to send their 360 in for repairs? You can go a couple weeks without playing games. Better than the PS3 where you have to go forever without playing games cause all it has is riiiiidge raaaaacer.

Seriously...stop being a stupid fanboy and look at reality. Yeah it has a 16% failure rate but is everyone boycotting microsoft? No...because they still make a good product. Also it did happen to a friend of mine and what did he do? Sent it in and got a new one in a couple weeks. Same thing with another friend. How dare microsoft inconvenience people by a couple weeks.

Seriously is the 16% rate all you can pull out of your ass as to why the 360 sucks? That's pretty pathetic. I would have hoped you were old enough by now to realize that a 16% failure rate and having to send in your console is miniscule compared to sonys failure.

Well, what we have here is an example of a pure unbiased opinion, people from this forum should learn from this guy, the best part is when he posts that to criticize the 360 only for its 16% is pathetic and then he establishes a factual and mature proof that the PS3 sucks because doesn't have anything but riiiiidge raaaaacer. you see people? we all should have learn from this guy :D

I didn't say the 360 sucks, nor did I say you should throw it out the window. I like it, I use it, it has a lot of good games ... you're just not capable of understanding the point.

As a consumer you shouldn't be satisfied with something like a high failure rate. If TV's, refrigerators, toasters, cars, etc. had a similarly high failure rate then consumer advocacy groups would be all over them and they would lose a ton of brand loyalty. I don't understand what it is about videogames that makes people more willing to take shit and even defend the corporation. Let me put it another way - in 2-3 years after your warranty runs out your 360 will probably die and you'll have to purchase a new one. My SNES, N64, and PS2 still work.

I'm done arguing with children on the internet ... this is really a low point in my week.

I never once said that my post was factual, as it's obvious a very opinionated post. I could care less what people think about the 360 or PS3 I was merely responding how the failure rate doesn't break the console. Things that will actually break a console and make it garbage is pretty much what sony have done. I am also not sure you post is very topical. You flame me for not presenting "mature" and "factual" proof for my opinions yet your post doesn't seem to fall under those categories and it isn't even topical. I sense a troll.

The way your post was written you made the 16% sound like it was the worst thing on earth. You made a bigger deal of it than what it really was.

True...but seeing as how the 360 has many redeeming qualities and if you are one of the 16% then you simply call in, they send you a box to ship it to them and you get a new xbox free of charge. That's not bad at all. People are simply over inflating this.

Does the desire to justify your spending of $400-$600 on a console really warrant flipping out at each other over which one is better? Are you that insecure about your decision?
 
i know quite of ppl who have gotten the RRoD

but i won my 360 in the Every 10 Minutes contest and have been playing it since 3 days before launch. and it still works great, i've had it freeze on me like once, and that was after playing oblivion on release day for something like 4 hours.

You have to be in a pretty poor situation to actually need the desire to warrant a purchase under $1k that has a use which will last for some years. It utterly confuses me how people bitch and moan about a few hundred bucks.

It is most likely more, apparently they didnt count those who just sent theirs in for repair, which would be most of them and it would annoy me vastly to have to send in my console for weeks at a time.

I feel it's quite embarrassing, but I think the term "piss poor product" is a grave exaggeration. The PS3 has many faults of its own, and my personal experience of the 360 has all been good.
