Microsoft Paint... Is there a +1?

Hello my fellow art junkies.

And hello to my fans

You may already know that when it comes to pixel art, the only thing I use is MS Paint.

But, seeing as it is old technology, it is missing many simple features that would make it 10x better.

So, I turn to you. Is there any program out there that is just slightly better than MS Paint? I still want it to feel simple and not overstuffed with all these useless features. Basically, a pixel art program. Even something like a template and such off to the side, showing the colors that are used in the drawing would be great.

Post anything you think might match this description, and thanks!

Don't know much about pixel-art 'cept it looks awesome, but it might be a good program.

Rofl, I JUST found this program on my own, and regretted making this thread. It is PERFECT for pixel art, it's what it's made for!

Thanks anyway, I doubt anyone will find anything they think is better, but post anyway! You never know!

there's one somewhere thats used for pixel art, specially for it infact.

Don't remember the name though, but someone kept trying to convince me to use it when I was for some insane reason looking for something like DPaint a year or so ago.

I learned what I have already learned a thousand times... I just can't get used to other programs. I'm sticking with MS Paint!

Even though GraphicsGale had many great features, it just didn't feel like MS Paint... Couldn't get the hang of it.

Why not try to get an educational version of photoshop? It isn't overstuffed with useless features, every feature in PS is useful. Although with the educational version you are not permitted to put anything you make in photoshop online, if that's what you were planning to do.

I use the gimp for my pixel art, but it might have a bit too much extra stuff for your liking.

Flash is rather useful, and you can do pixel art with it. S'got layers and everything.

irfanview is for viewing pictures (and music and videos) only. that's why it's called irfanview. You can apply some effects, but that's about it.
