Microsoft Says Search Better than Google Soon

Microsoft will introduce a search engine better than Google in six months in the United States and Britain followed by Europe, its European president said on Wednesday.

"What we're saying is that in six months' time we'll be more relevant in the U.S. market place than Google," said Neil Holloway, Microsoft president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

"The quality of our search and the relevance of our search from a solution perspective to the consumer will be more relevant," he told the Reuters Global Technology, Media and Telecoms Summit.

Is it just me or has it become frustratingly difficult to find what you are looking for with google lately.

I type in a couple very specific keywords and I get the strangest results, and I just can't find what Im obviously looking for.

Well if Microsoft says they are coming out with a more relevant search engine, i'll be really happy about that.

I hate companies that tell me which product or service I prefer.

How about I be the judge of which search engine is better Microsoft? How about you shut your mouth and let me decide once you release your product.

The way the reporter worded it made microsoft sound like jackasses I agree.

But the way Microsoft actually said it sounds fine.

I have heard enough empty claims from various companies (Sony) but Microsoft generally underbids, meaning they don't really talk a whole lot of shit, they are pretty reserved. Other companies claim this and that, I find that obnoxious as hell, but when Microsoft says they are about to take over.. that can only mean that they really are about to take over.

And since - like google - its free, and they claim its better, then Im all for it.

Like I said google has been frustrating and disapointing me lately

They are saying its better becuase its more relevant. That is something that can actually be considered a fact, not an opinion.

So mullinator, when you type Lesbian Mule Sex in the search engine, you will get what you were looking for.

Honestly, Im annoyed with google. Besides what i've already said, I think that whole "safe-search" feature is gay. I don't want my information Rated-G and sugar coated for kids, thanks. And yea, you can turn it off, but only if you use cookies, but then the government will know you like Lesbian Mule sex Mull!

And you consider what Microsoft says in press releases fact? :p

I agree with you to a point, but...

Eh?

Hmm I would propably still use google, its just a household name now I guess. Mircrosoft wont just lay back and let someone else make some money, now they have to get in on the search engine action. I love there monopolistic attitude. Im going to give Bill Gates a raise, call him into my office.

I dont think "microsoft it" works as well.

old and microsoft has already released a press release 'debunking' what that vp said.

Interesting, but yea I don't really like the monopolistic attitude of m$ either...
But a ms search engine is fine though, and great if they can truely make it better (in the relevance of search results) than google.

But if you know how to use google, it works just fine. (ex. use "" around whole phrases that you want to find, etc.)

Monopolies are not bad as long as it is not abused. Infact they can be extremely good when not abused. They can lead to cheaper products and better products. It is only when a monopoly starts raising it's prices and since theres no alternatives it and they screw over the product itself then thats a bad monopoly.

The fact is that Microsoft controls a large portion of the market, but are still under constant pressure and constant alternatives. Linux and Mac may not have a massive market share so if Microsoft ****s up they eventually will. So these will keep Microsoft competitive. Microsoft got lazy with IE, Firefox came along and now Microsoft is getting back in shape and gonna come out with a good browser again. Microsoft introduced a massively better networking system with Xp and it has some holes, Microsoft has gotton in shape for this with Vista. You gotta remember, now days Microsoft yes is a monopoly but still has constant competitors in everywhere that could take over eventually, if there are none a monopoly will get lazy. If there are some the Monopoly will kick it's but into high gear and show why they kick ass again.

South Park had a great episode on why big bussiness and monopolies and underpants nomes....
