With the OXM review hitting streets today, and your own preview impressions which are looking great, hopefully you?ll all be a bit wiser as to the ins and outs of GTA IV now.

I?m sure you?ve all seen the chatter from the 1up GTA IV Preview on the PS3 install time?.just a few thoughts on what you could do in this time if you were actually playing the 360 version from the moment you insert the disc?.

* Steal your first dozen or so cars and test out the improved vehicle handling?

* Check out the cool features on your mobile phone?

* Rack up a 5 Star Wanted Rating?

* Have a blast of your first MP game on Xbox LIVE?

* Ditch the tracksuit chic and buy some new clothes?

* Unlock your first GTA IV Achievement and boost your Gamerscore?

*.Or just start downloading a film from Xbox LIVE Video Store to watch later ? check out the latest batch of arrivals this weekend!

* Cry as your 360 RRODs?

From what i understand the PS3 version has a 3 megabyte install.

Well that radically changes things; you'll have to wait a second more.

As a 360 owner, I'd really like to see Microsoft do one of those cute little lists for what I'm meant to do to fill in the 2 weeks my RROD'd console is away at the fixers.

But come on, 5 minutes, really Microsoft? Even if GTA is going to decide the console war, there's no need to be a little bitch about it.

Edit - I just realised, but this is so old-school Sony of them. I guess someone's got to fill the giant fail-hole they left when they finally learnt to keep quiet for 5 seconds.

A 4mb install? Oh noes, gonna go cry a river quick.

Couldnt care less. I wouldnt care if I had to dance naked in the street to the tunes of James Blunt to reserve my right for a copy, im still buying a copy after I sell my grandma.

I'd gladly wait even 20 minutes for a reduction of loading times in the game... but seriously, they're scraping at the bottom now to make the PS3 look bad.

Kun fu porn, ****ing awesome.
I would never ban you for such a thing.

You got banned for something that the entire internet and their collective wives* have seen before. :p

Smooth.

*People on the internet have wives now?

This is quite a low blow by Microsoft. I wouldn't really care about an install time to be honest.

I must admit I'm starting to get exited about GTA 4. I hope my video rental store has enough copys.
Any word on the aircraft handling? That was the biggest problem that really pissed me off in GTA: SA.

This game does look wonderful. And I've yet to play a good open world game on my 360.

Just a few thoughts on what you could do in this time if you were waiting for the game to install on your PS3 from the moment you insert the disc.

* Make a sandwich

* Check out the cool features on your real mobile phone

* Breeze through the manual for useful information

* Have a blast of your first fap of the day

* Take a quick bathroom break to ensure that your play is not interrupted

* Lock your doors to ensure your house is not looted while you play

Stiggy makes some good points. I would rather spend the five minutes installation doing some of these rather than jump right into the game and find out five minutes in that I need to go to the toilet, have some food or even a fap!

All hail the PS3 installation :D

Sony: friend of the fap.

No planes in IV, just copters. A snippet in (I think) the official PS3 mag review mentioned they're a little hard to handle, but then it might just take some getting used to.

The helicopters and planes in San Andreas were my favourite part of the game.

Oh, and driving at top speed down the motorway on a motorbike.

Oh, and standing on top of a car and shooting out the tyres of the cars in front and behind you to watch the resulting havoc.

Oh, and putting on the BUBBLECARS cheat so that cars fly away when hit then shooting them when a police helicopter flies near to make a flying bomb.

Oh, and ... etc.

Install time for 4MB isn't worth mentioning. The thing Microsoft should have found worth mentioning is their exclusive content.

Psh, I'm no PS3 fan, but that's a new low for Microsoft. Seriously, a 5 minute install? That's what the game manual's for.

I never really had problems with the aircraft in SA, since I played it on the PC with a joystick. I <3 all the planes.
But that 5 minute install is 5 more minutes you have to wait till you play 4.
If I were a PS3 owner, I would be sitting in front of my screen, waiting for it to load. I wouldn't even be thinking about fapping or eating. I would watch as each pixel on the loading bar fills up, and in anticipation might even die.

Let's not turn this into a fanboy fight, the 360 and PS3 are both good consoles with their fair share of pros and cons.

I might day from just this 8 day wait from now till GTA4.
D:

So xb360 users get a head start on ps3 users by what? Two menu screens? OMG CONSOLE WAR OVER.

The bigger question is, how in the hell does it take 5 minutes to install 4 MB. Am I hearing this right?

That might be why they are making something of this?

What's the install for? Might even be a benefit for performance or something?

I think it's just to decrease loading times and stuff

although I personally prefer my 360 far in superior to my ps3 I am not going to think that the 30 second 4MB install is what made me decide between the 2 versions of the game :dozey:

It does seem like M$ is overly petty about it

tchhh. i thought having the built in hard drive was supposed to be the great thing about the PS3? I don't see how 4MB will make any difference at all. doesn't the 360 have 512MB more RAM? Correct me where I'm wrong

I don't think it'll matter, they'll look the same on both consoles.

True, but I wonder if one of them will perform noticeably better.

In the end, I just hope they make a PC version at least as good, if not better - which I'm betting it would be... especially since it would come out so much later.

Now, if they can just set up the controls with a gamepad on the PC to play just like the 360 version's gamepad.

Yeah, just the 360 will get an aditional 10+ hours of missions etc via the episodic content Microsoft paid Rockstar 50,000,000 USD to develop.:)

To be honest with you, i would've sold my 360 long ago if it wasn't for GTA 4 and the extended content.
I do plan on buying a PS 3 in the near future since Blue Ray won the format war.
This attempt of a mocking is quite pathetic though.

I don't buy movie dvds as it is, let alone blue-ray.

Both systems have the same amount of RAM (512mb). On the 360, it's unified between the CPU and GPU, while on the PS3, 256 is XDR for the Cell and 256 is GDDR3 for the GPU.

Both systems WILL have DLC, but the 360's exclusive DLC has yet to be specified.

I remind you that half the PS3's RAM works at 3.2 GHZ.

Erm, that's not true, it has been stated OFFICIALLY by Microsoft(whom are FUNDING the development of the 360 DLCs), together with Rockstar, that each of the two 'epic episodic packs' will offer 10 hours of new gameplay each.

Yes, the PS3 will get DLCs too, but I doubt they will get DLCs worth 50,000,000 USD, unless Sony pay'em that too.:)

It's the -PS3s- DLC that has yet to be confirmed as to what shape it'll take etc.

I quote CVG.

"the downloadable content (DLC) coming for the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV has repositioned those games in just this way. DLC so far has meant the odd new car, jumper of bit of horse armour, but GTA IV is set to completely redefine the idea with expansions that are to GTA IV what Vice City or San Andreas were (to) GTA III."

I don't see why the multi platform DLC should be any different from those.

Rapstah, because I doubt Rockstars were paid 50,000,000 USD to make multiplatform DLCs.

If you weren't aware, that's ALOT of money, even when it comes to game development.

Especially for mere 'downloadable extra content'.
