Hmm, I bought a headset-mic from futureshop a little while ago, and recently it simply stopped working...

I'm looking to get a new mic before HL2 comes out, especially so I can use it in DOD:S.

I'm wondering whether anyone here has good suggestions for a good mic (both headset and standalone) and your opinions on which (headset or standalone) is better...

I would actually prefer a headset, simply because you don't have to use the mic as a headset, I found I could wear it around my neck and the mic would reach my mouth.

I have sennheiser headphones and they are top quality, I'm sure their headphone mic is just as good

Thats the headset I have myself. Got it for around $45 online. Got nice speakers and a decent mic (beats $5 plastic ones). It's worked well so far so I would recommend it as a relatively cheap yet effective solution.
