Middle Eastern foreign policy change for the better?

So it seems the Bush administration is gonna be pushing for democracy over stability in the Middle East. A change in foreign policy after 60 years. On the face of it i think this is a good move, and i am quite excited to see how this will unfold.

But there are some caveats:

Madeleine Albright made a good point, It cant involve military action on the part of the USA. This would not be purposeful and would lower the standing of the US even further in the eyes of the Middle East and the world. Remember in a sense you are dictating a change, so military action would look like a blunt response to America not getting its own way. Not a good look.

Also you have to realise that democratisation doesn't make a country Pro American. Just remember that.

Anyway, your thoughts on the change.
