"MILES mss dll" error

I have fully installed and registered, I click on the icon, it loads up the game, it shows the "valve" logo :frown: , then it goes to a "blurry" loading screen, annd it does nothing, it freezes, if I alt+control+
delete, it goes back to my desktop, and it says "mss dll error", or something along that line.
Can anyone help me with this?

its easy

i was havin the very same problem here... had it with gta:vc 2, and copying mss32.dll (which can be found in the system32 folder) to the game directory solved it all just nicely. i was trying to do the same with this game but man was i dumb, cause you mustn't copy it to your Steam folder, but to (steamfolder)\steamapps\(username)\half-life 2. that simple. worked out for me.

(still i cant play the thing... the HL2 logo shows up when i ask to begin the game, and before the graphics start up, the game crashes with no error message at all. hope its just an outdated nvidia driver...)
