Well basically I got a new mp3 player but you have to install the disk first to put songs on it. But the disk is a mini disk, and when I put it in the disk drive nothing happens, NOTHING. Does this mean I can't use my mp3 unless I get a better pc? ):

Err.. What are you expecting to happen? If your CD drive has a minidisk slot/thing in the tray, then it indeed can read minidisks.

The minidisk is an installation disk for software that goes with the player?

If there is no autoplay when you insert the disk, then go to My Computer and open the disk up and run the setup.exe or whatever on the disk.

Not minidisc an actual mini disk. Like a CD just really small

And my pc won't run it. It won't even spin because my pc doesn't even detect there is a disk in it

Stop saying your PC. If your CD drive has a section of the tray that the disc fits in, then it can read mini disks. If it can read mini disks, then it is sending the same information to the rest of your PC as a regular disk would. It has nothing to do with your PC as a whole.

Again, what do you expect to happen when you put the disk in? You say 'nothing happens' and 'it won't run it' but that doesn't mean much. Have you tried looking in My Computer and opening the disk through that?

Well I'm stumped.

By the way how did you do on that essay.

Gemma, try going to the website of the company who make the MP3 player and see if you can download the installation files from there. Copy them to the desktop and then install.

surely in the settings of the mp3 player you can set it to USB storage mode so it doesn't need the software. If not just go to Sandisk website and download it...i bet it's there too.
