Mist is a pirate-based total conversion using the Source engine. It tells the tale of the battle between the Cut Throats, the Black Buccaneers, and the Cursed Pirates as they fight it out in the Mist Isles. [br]</br>Today they have released shots of Sunset Caves, a haunted ghost town called Lost Souls, and a shot of their newest endevour, Lighthouse. [br][br]Delve deeper by clicking here.

Its a real shame that source is very poor at rendering natural environments
Its pretty but compared to far Cry's simple aesthete its the plain jane who goes home from the party alone

More foliage + bigger displacements = way better.

blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa MIST IS TOO SLOW... but yeah i guess good work ;) ...

im glad it doesn't appear to be based off the mist game. i would hate to see another good mod get smited down by the property owner.

Can't slam em for the limitations of source though. personally, I feel you should pick your engine based off the design of your mod, but others say hl2, just cause theres so many people who played hl. If i was going to make a mod with boats, ships, oceans, and tropical islands, fer shizzle I woulda used cryengine. plus its a much better graphics engine ;)

maybe they'll tweak the online physics, and have real balistic based cannon projectiles, though hl2 doesn't do balistics i don''t think, you could code it the same as the gravity gun shooting something through the air. NOW THAT WOULD MAKE IT WORTH IT ON SOURCE! :D

POLYGUNS u've got a damn wild imagination... I hear MIST i run ...

Looks like it comming along nicely! :D

I just think it needs more details like more foliage, more objects laying around and such.

I'll play this when it comes out! :D

Are you thinking about Myst, never heard of any game called Mist before.
I could be wrong, but Myst is the adventure game.

It looks fun, but isn't taking advantage of Source to the fullest extent. For instance, look at Valve's new outdoor Lost Coast map. The difference doesn't even need to be explained.

The quality of the screens is not the best but i have to say that i like the look of this :)

Very nice mod... Looks like it will shape up to be something interesting. I, as well as others, am very appreciative that this game will not be based of the point and click adventurer Myst. GJ guys :)

Looks pretty cool. The low quality of the .jpgs doesn't help though...
Can't expect a mod to have to host a couple more kilobytes of picture files just so you can think that their mod looks good.

Oh wait...no, that sounds backwards...

Anyways, I hate multiplayer mods that try to pretend that there will be a storyline invloved. It just doesn't happen folks. If you want to tell a story, make a single player mod. And I promise you I'll play it.

/loves singleplayer
//hates low quality promo images

If you check the image quality of the jpg's on our website, Mistmod.com, you will see a distinct difference in the quality from the ones onsite, to the ones uploaded here. Not to make a jab at Halflife2.net, of course:)

Thank you for the imput, mateys. Responding to toekneebullard's comment about a Multiplayer Storyline, I know it is impossible to portray an active story like you can in a SinglePlayer game, however it is possible to use material from a storyline such as music, characters and environments to create the atmosphere of the story your looking for. A storyline is more than just characters moving and developing using scripts and such. By creating a Multiplayer game which takes place within a storyline, you are simply trying to bring the battle into terms with the actual events in the story.

These most recent updates are still early in development mates, I know from what we have released, you might not be able to see the Piratey atmosphere we are aiming for. You will.

I think it looks like a cool mod and well said about the story line. I mean, you have to have some sort of story in a mod... wether it be ct's rescuing hostages or pirates um, killing each other. Its all good.

considering these maps have been in development long before those lost coast screens were released, i'm not surprised...
