Mixed results on loading

I just got Half Life 2, along with Episode 1 (I'm that slow ).

I install it, open it. And it always gets to the main menu, then I press New Game. It starts loading, sometimes it'll pause at 1 bar, sometimes 6. Sometimes it will go to the opening scene, then just stop before the train beginning. It will be "Not Responding". I have no clue what the problem is.

Here are my computer specs:

Windows XP Media Center Edition (If that matters at all)
Intel Pentium D 2.80 GHz
137 GB available on a 228 GB HDD
1028 MB Ram
ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 512 MB PCI-e
Direct X 9.0c

This is so bothersome!

If you bought it from the store then it could be updating. Does it say anything in Steam on the My Games page? Or under View and Bandwidth monitor.

Status says 100% ready. Nothing under the Monitor either.

By the way, I've checked Steams help area. Nothing that helped me.

[Edit] I tried opening Episode 1, it said out of date drivers, so I updated them, I will see if HL2 works.

[Edit] It was the drivers, problem solved =)
