Anything else you think is relevant: Last night I think this is where the problem began, but I doubt it. Anyways, last night I tried to turn off my computer but it never really turned off, and the pc was still running. I then proceeded to manually turn the comp. off using the power switch. But, before I turned the comp off the monitor then told me about how it was NOT receiving a signal.

About 8 hours later in the morning I am doing a hardware upgrade. I didnt try to turn the comp on before this so i dont know if the problem existed before the upgrade. I am upgrading the heatsink fan. The heatsink is now installed and i am trying to turn on my comp, but it's not turning on for some reason. All the fans are running, no beeps, the hdd light is continously on, the cd rom light is continously on, but the green pwr light does not turn on with the comp. It seems like everything is working.. but something has been short circuited? My monitor does not receive signal from the video card to turn itself on. Please help me, any help would be appreciated.

Update: I switched out my psu and my video card.. still no help. I think it is my mobo.

So i am just going to buy a new computer most likely if the problem cant be fixed:

new comp wishlitst; soon

Do you have the CPU cooler's power (or at least the yellow wire) plugged into the CPU header on the motherboard (3 or 4 pins for power with "CPU" written in white next to it)?

Yes it is plugged in, my cpu fan spins when I turn it on, if it wasnt plugged in my mobo would beep but i hear no beeps. Now the computer won't even turn on, it turns on for a second and then off really quickly. I think something on my mobo is shorted out when I installed the heatsink, maybe due the force I put on my mobo? To assess this i switched out the psu between an Antec and a Thermaltake, and my video cards but it still stutter starts. So I think I am just going to spend about $300 buying new parts. Do you think it is possible to hookup my old ide hd to this mobo and get my data off of it? : http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128034
