My friend's mobo is not giving a signal to the monitor. this pc used to work before. the fans inside works and the graphics card is workable on my pc. i connected the cable correctly and i checked to make sure every necessary component was connected. when i turn on the pc, the fan, cpu fan and gpu fan works but the screen is blank. how do i fix this problem?

I didn ask my friend for the specs but this is wat i figured.

Some P4 cpu
Asus P4T535 Mobo
350 W
512 mb of PC4200 DDR2 Ram
80 Gb Seagate Barracuda

Have you turned the PSU switch OFF in the back for 20 seconds to clear the power in the caps (hear a small zap sound) then start the machine again?

Tried a different monitor?

I didn shut the psu for 20 secs, only 5 secs.

This is the 3rd monitor that is tested with.

If the motherboard has integrated graphics and you are connecting through your video card, thats your problem. Go into BIOS and fix that.

If it does not have integrated graphics, try a dif. video card.

No integrated graphics. This 6600 gt i have is the 2nd video being tested on the mobo. the original card, 6800 worked on my friend's other pc. The psu cables are so messy so i arrange it nicely. there was an open slot on the mobo for the molex so i connected it to the mobo.

I think i got the wrong mobo type. it is P4T533.

im sry for the long delay. i got into a car accident yesterday and i ****ed up my car. im alright, just bruises on my chest and a sore face from the airbag.

damn, that sucks dude. It would seem a motherboard would be the least of your concerns :)

Lemme research this a little, ill get back to ya

glad ur ok

STEPS
1.) Unplug EVERYTHING (strip this puppy down let's find the root)
2.) Insert the CPU
3.) Plug in the memory
4.) Plug in the Power supply to the motherboard
5.) Plug in the monitor into the video card
6.) Turn on the monitor
7.) Turn on the computer

What happens? Does the BIOS display info on the screen? Is there a beep code? Is the Green light on the motherboard light up?

IF NOTHING HAPPENED:

1.) Unplug everything AGAIN
2.) Plug in the power to the motherboard
3.) Turn on
4.) Is there a beep code letting you know the CPU is missing? (you many need to plug speakers into the sound card. If NO BEEP code check the voltage coming out of the power supply with a volt meter...make sure that orange wire going into the motherboard is giving about 12volts...

IF YOU GOT BIOS INFO:
1.)Turn off the machine
2.)Plug in one device
3.)Turn it back on, if it still works repeat step 1 & 2 until you find the device giving problems. (watch those IDE devices and what is master/slave settings are because they trip a lot of people.)

Im not sure if you know how to do all this but this is your best bet without buying a new motherboard. You might even try installing his motherboard in your system and see if you get a picture. If you dont want to do this, I suggest you contact ASUS and see if they can walk you through any fixes. From what I have seen, this is somewaht of a common problem for that motherboard.
