ATI Radeon To ATI FireGL Mod Guide

while a lot of what they talk about is gobbly-gook to me, I thought some of you might be interested in getting more out of you radeon card. I'd be interested in the results if some of you like to try this out (hardware is not my forte)

yes but why mod it if there isnt a performance gain ...I must remind you that I'm a n00b, a newbie, a babe is swaddling when it comes to hardware ...so inform the ignorant (me) as to why this wouldnt be a good idea (the thought of tampering with my 9800 pro makes me feel rather "pukey")

It's modding a desktop card to a workstation card - making it useful as a render node or suchlike :)

so for gaming purposes it's pretty much the same performance, but for 3d rendering the performance is the same as the firegl? I c :)

if I recall correctly you mentioned that you overclocked your vid card. What pros and cons did you experience and is it worth it (just trying to inch my way closer to be able to play The lost coast)

Stern, unless you invest some serious money/time in oc hardware/knowledge, chances are you'll either be able to play it, or not :(

hmmm 50/50 chances of sucess? and what kind of chance are we talking here? can I burn the card out making it a pile of junk? and how much more can it cost? a vid card cooler?

there arent really that many chances that if you overclock your card youll hurt it...it isnt too tough, just go get ati tool and save the settings when you find the highest the memory and the core will go, then you can load the settings when your ready to play a game
