Hi.

It's a tactical Teamplay-mod which is also realistic(real damage, aiming with ironsights(hip shooting also possible). In the first version we'll probably have a coop map. Swat starts at the roof and has to do following objectives:
-Release all hostages.
-Eliminate all terrorists.
-Defuse all bombs.

In later releases we'll also have tdm and other game modes.
At the moment, we're about 4people, most of us are new to this business.

What we've got yet:

-Weapon/Equipment Sound (1)
-Modelling (1, another one is learning modelling, skinning and animating, but he's far from being ready)
-Mapping (1)
-Coding (1)

Since this mod is very young, we don't have a hp yet.

It's not like cs. Cs is a very unrealistic game.

It's realistic. It's Teamplay-Based. If you rush a floor alone, you won't live long. And you must play tactical. Not just rush all the time, like in cs.

So, is anyone interested?
 
Ok, sorry to be a nuisance again, but what can you offer to the table that, say... I don't know, the upcoming S.W.A.T. 4 can't offer? Ok sure, iron sights, but they are a feature not everyone likes.

also, more enlightening: What type of Ironsights are you planning on having? I've read about two seperate types at the moment. One is the basic "Picture Sight", which is just an image that pretends to be the model raised to your face. This adds more detail (As it's a picture, and you can pretty much add all the detail you can fit on the little .tga). Or, will you be using the (Much better) Model-Based Ironsight, with a hacked in Depth of Field.
I think most people who are interested in a realistic FPS look for model-based Iron sights, and it can turn down a few people if it isn't. The upside is you get no "breaks" in the animation where it switches from model to picture, but the downside is, unless you find some clever way around it, the gun will either have to be very detailed all the time, or not very detailed all the time. Very detailed means you can have picture-like quality on the model, but you risk performance issues with people using older computers. using lower quality risks realism, but increases performance for low-end users.

And have you seen www.hostileintent.org ? they're pretty much doing the same thing you're doing. Maybe you should talk to them about their mod, since I'm sure they have some sort of copy protection, and they're porting to source.

Nice. I prefer Iron sights to pictures anyday! Yeah I play Hostile intent too, and I like it. Will you have a prone function?

Rather not, but it's not sure now. It's just, a Special Unit like the Swat won't go prone or jump around, but as i already said, it's not decided yet.

well you know that saying about a cup of tea.... personally i don't know that it'd be that bad, it sounds like it could turn out alright. :thumbs: don't worry about the above cynic, make the game and see how we treat you. :P

Yeah. Have you played the S.W.A.T. 4 Beta? They don't jump about in that either. Because I'm an avid CSS player, I found it rather annoying at first, but you get used to it...

What about climbing special structures or objects, like scripted?

That's what we've decided for. :)
And yes, i've played the swat4 beta.

The official modname is now "Tactical Combat".

In the first release we'll only have urban-style maps. Later we'll have desert maps ...

You should use the swat tactics they use in Taiwan

Like Close Quarters Combat and all that

That would be a unique mod =)


Edit: Sounds alot like Rainbow 6/Swat 3/4 though

That's what it's based on, like we've been saying. And yeah, if I wasn't tied to my own mod (Head-Humped) I'd definately jump aboard the bandwagon.
 
Hmm, no skinner/modeler interested? :(

We would also need animators and voice actors
