Well, after clearing up a few gameinfo.txt issues with mods I downloaded off the internet, I've settled on trying Eraser mod and the JBPhysgun mod. After installing them in the CORRECT DIRECTORIES (I've checked this a billion times) when the game loads, trying to start a new game causes the chapter selection box to be empty and simply clicking "Start New Game" causes nothing to happen. Loading an old saved game will load a regular old HL2 game with no mod properties whatsoever, except it runs incredibly slow.

Those of you who want more info, if I can give it, let me know what you want to do. As of right now I simply run the half-life 2 from steam with "-game eraser" or "-game jbmod" in launch properties.

What in the world am I doing wrong here guys?

I'm having a similar problem, I get
"Can't load C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\klyick\half-life 2\bin\filesystem_steam.dll

Any Ideas?

I'm having the same problem as you too. I'm having trobble finding info about how to install these mods. :o

Do you need the source version of half-life to run them?? or is the retail version of half-life 2 ok?

TiMix, which mod are you trying to install, is it the jbmod?

to start the mod you should open up the console and type "map mapname" to load the map(.bsp) file.(rather then new game)
also just to make sure, the .bsp file goes in the Half-life2/HL2/maps folder..
hope that helps!

Yeah, I've done the console map loading, but all it does is load me at the level, and when I give myself the physgun, it's just a regular grav gun.
:sigh:

I've got something different, It says "Initalizing game files" and sits there forever. However, maps I"ve created have no problems.

Weird. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Follow up, a source reinstall solved these issues. Basically, a simple deletion of the hl2 directory, after backing up saves, fixed it.

Good work.

Nothing like the old "shut up and reboot" methodology.
