I've been playing the demo for a few days now and I absolutely love it ..there isnt any other game like it (well you could argue that it's rtcw ET but if you've played MoH MP you'll soon realise that it's unlike rtcw et in many ways. The game plays like a sp squad game ..except your squadmates are real people ...crawling through the jungle with the rest of the squad trying to box in the enemy is awesome ..finally a game that forces you to play as a team and forces you to think before you attack ...you can even do hand signals (although I havent tried it yet)

MoH PA's MP is what I was hoping valve would do with MP for HL2 ..hopefully this type of gameplay will be popular enough that more developers will bring new elements to multiplayer games ...I'm tired of the run and gun games like UT ..it's time developers started creating something more than endless mindless frag fests.

what is your ideal MP gametype?

I'm a fan of classic DM. It is terrible that I haven't seen a good deathmatch game done in ages. DM is supposed to be frantic (as in I have one health left after being hit by a rocket) and fun. I think a big reason for the lack of good DM is how hard it is to make a proper DM game. DM needs balance. That means no snipers pwning you or people whoring the shotty. Aside from the weapons balance, it needs a great map as well. I mean why should developers create a great DM map when they can make a symmetrical CTF map in a third of the time?

I don't like UT DM , it is missing something imo. Possibly smaller maps with less people can make it better. Not to mention a making better variety of weapons.

I'm not a fan of teamplay multiplayer because there are too many morons. Between teamkilling and doing other stupid stuff, it just doesn't make it practical. Sure it is fun when it does work, but how often do you get those games? Not often enough.

I would like to see physics more involved with multiplayer games. That would make stuff more interesting. Imagine having a rocket hit a barrel that flies through the air and lands on your enemy (or teammate) and kills him.

ya you have a good point ..the game is only as good as it's players ...I used to play a lot of rtcw with a mac-only clan and we had great teamwork ..but public servers are usually not the place to find teamwork

ya that would change things up a bit ...but I want more substance less ...frentic explosions and uber guns doing the work for you ..nothing beats dancing with an enemy trying to reload your gun only to club the guy to death before he re-loads, you just dont get that up and personal in UT or Quake

there's 32 views so far ..surely you guys must have opinions?

I love fast DM

Acceljump, Longjump, Bunnyhop, Taufly.

Speed, and tricks and classic DM :)

there's only one problem with trying to put a SP experience in MP and that's the fact that people online mostly like to do their own things, maybe you've had a good experience with it, mine wasn't so good and i found it just to be a simple mission based Mp which is nothing new and personally, I would rather play RTCW ET than the MOH:PA MP from the demo

cpt im sorry to say this but honestly this is one of the worth fps' ive played... the original mohaa remains the best imo
i know those are strong words but its true
i cant help but compare it to cod and even bf1942
mp just isnt as action oriented as cod and not as grande as bf1942
i dont know, something's just missing

hmmm it's slow granted but I like it ...more room for stragedy less reliance on luck or whoever has the biggest guns ...tired of playing ww2 games were you can easily rack up 50 kills per round (yes I've played rtcwET to death)

I'm surprised more of you dont want anything more challenging than DM. ..I get so bored of it so fast ..I rarely ever play DM ..I think I only played HL DM once

I prefer team-based games by a mile, especially objective game types. While I'm sure many of you don't like CoD (i've seen lots of people bash it, which is fair enough) but games like search and destroy (or CS really) I really enjoy. Generally people who play games like that are looking for teamwork, and it's very rare that when you say "go protect whatever" they won't say yes. But like you said stern, a game's only as good as it's players.

As for the MoH:PA demo, I found it fun - just a little annoying as even in objective mode everyone would run about gunning down anything, and jap's spawncamping for the whole round, but on the whole, I think the word that sums it up is "satisfying".

I do like DM games however every now and then, I don't really like Quake/UT games, I prefer something a little more realistic.

ya at first everyone was playing MoH PA like they would any other game but I found a few servers where peeps played as a team ..as long as the spawn pool is low peeps will try to survive as long as possible

First of all, to call DM games not challenging is quite an understatement. Perhaps the casual gamers DMing is not exciting, but you'll find a large bit of the Quake 1-3 players, UT series players, and HLDM/OP4 players are extremely talented individuals who put forth a lot of time and effort into their skills. They are very competative and challenging games on that level. Quite frankly i've never seen anything quite as amazing as those Q3 promode, and HLDM AG mod players who play competatively. There are, however, a good bit of folks like yourself who love teamplay as well, including me. I'm sure there will be games more suited torwards your favored type of gaming coming soon.

it's challenging if you're an elite player ..most public servers are full of people with less skill and luck plays a big part of it

Not so on Quake 3.. Most quakers are skilled. HLDM you can't say the same though. To make up for that, however, is Adrenaline Gamer. It's promode HLDM. Most people you'll play there are incredibly good.

I like it. It reminds me of MOH:AA and Spearhead (:P), which I enjoyed.I don't know how anybody could say CoD MP is better. I guess I just like MOH-style mp bettah.

ya ..I guess ...admittedly I've never played DM all that much. 'm sure there are many really good players ...but it's not the players that makes it boring it's the game play ..the game almost always play out exactly the same way ...with team games the outcome can be vastly different depending on the strategy used. I can't tell you the amount of times I've (or someone else) has defused dynamite at the last possible in RTCW ET winning the match by mere fractions of a second ..you just dont get that level of excitment in DM games at least IMHO

You have never played a good DM game, have you?

I used to play a lot of UT ...I liked it for awhile ..also MoH that was pretty good. I've just reached the point where I need more ...I usually wont buy a game that doesnt have a good multiplayer because after you've spent 20 hours finishing the sp portion there's always MP to keep you occupied for months on end ...I've played rtcw (didnt even care about SP cuz it was teh crappy) and rtcw ET since they first came out ..I still play ET ..because it has such a good MP

Am I the only person who though ET was a little bit disappointing? Granted it's free and all that but I just didn't find it fun at all, the weapons were awful, and generally a little poor - in the way it played. However, there were great maps, encouraging teamplay and the like. Have there been any patches or anything to update it? lol tbh I haven't actually played it since it's release :P

As for DM though, I can agree with Stern, DM seems to lack substance, and eventually gets repetitive, but it's good every now and then to let off some steam hehe.

well there was only one patch for ET ...I didnt find too many problems with the weapons, although cheating became a problem

Right I'm gonna download it again...just to make sure I don't like it. But you never know, If i do - It's all good.

I felt DM took a turn for the worse when UT and Quake 3 came out.

uh, i hate 1v1 :X

i haven't played a good dm game in awhile either.

1vs1 is all about skill and not getting spammed by ppl from 3 sides.

Nah. CPMA Quake 3 kicks so much ass. =]

To you and CptStern: Different strokes for different folks, eh? ;)

it isnt the gameplay or game types that hurt mohpa, its something else....

I thought the demo was horrible....CoD took the crown for best WWII game..

Yes! I think the gameplay invader mode is absolutely awesome. First time i played it I thought of RTCW. (not ET version) Maybe thats why I like it. I claned in RTCW for 3 years. Very awesome mp. I just preordered directors cut version of game becasue its so awesome and so i can play it on the 4th.

it's because it's not set in the european theatre isnt it?

Pauly: it's out on the 4th? damn shame the cd version wasnt out at the same time instead of being released a day before HL2

yeh, but what about the skill required to take down those 3 spammers ;)

I prefer slow, teambased games. Fast ones just get boring after a while, like UT.

ya I wasnt all that impressed with single player ..but I'm having a great time with mp. Played some more last night and I gotta say what a world a difference it makes when you play with players who know what to do and want to play as a team.
