So this weekend was the Mojam a charity event attempted by Mojang (Notch and crew). They spent the weekend programming a game they called Catacomb snatch, a multiplayer Egyptian steam-punk themed 2d shootem up strategy game. I don't know if any of you donated (I did) but as can be expected by any one with some programming experience the game that they were able to produce was highly unfinished and contained some game crashing bugs. I expected this from the start but the fact that it was a charity drive type thing I decided to take part.

Luckily they released the source code and I was able to fix a number of annoying issues with the controls and most of the game crashing bugs.

Although I am only fiddling around with it for fun I would like to release my build of the game. I am hesitant though since the game and its source files were only released to those who donated.

What do you guys think I should do?

So is that it then? I was under the impression that they would keep working on it to make at least a partially featured game that was playable.

From what I saw they didn't really give any information other then released the source code. I thought they would have at least stayed up all night working on it but nope they all went home for the night and the continued working the next day. They did a pretty good job in the time they had though. The game has all the assets necessarily to actually be a decent game. Its even very easy to make new maps for but in this current state it has a few issues.

They better keep working on it. :|

Haven't you guys learned anything from IKEA?

Swedes only do stuff half-assed.

I would email Mojang but they don't seem to have a clear email on there website and I don't use Twitter or the like.

I might release it here if I'm allowed.

Changes I've made so far:
I increased the difficulty of the mobs as it appears that they purposely made the controls constraining to add difficulty to the game (for example before if you started firing you could not change the direction your facing unless you let go of the fire button and you can't suck up coins off the floor unless you stop firing either). I don't see the point of that I would rather have a constant flow to the movement but tougher bosses.

They also added pits into the game but you cannot fall into them instead they are the same as a wall. I am currently trying to add a fall death animation as well as a death animation in general.
