Monitor cant find signal?

I had a good rant about this and many other problem's with hl2 on release day so shall spare boring anyone with another rant fest.

Basically my*only*problem now is 15 minute's max into HL2 OR CSS the monitor goes blank"as in sleep mode"with the message MONITOR CANT FIND SIGNAL leaving no option but to hard reboot?

I am trying hard not to rant in saying i've not yet being able to play this game properly since release date AND infact i've got used to owning HL2 and not being able to play it but hey if there is a fix i'm not going to say no.

Which bring's me to my point IS THERE A FIX?

Surely i cant be the only one left whose suffering this problem and if so what did everyone else do to fix it?

Here is a rant free list of what i've tryed already.

2 monitor's,
bought new hdd and psu,
turned fastwrite off,
agp to x4,
updated all system driver's,
flashed to latest bio's,
changed refresh rate's"60-85",
reformatted x4,
turned texture's,resolution,etc down,
on a fresh reformat/install of window's turned onboard sound off just installing the relevent driver's to play but still random black screen with cant find signal message?

Is there anything else left to try or is it a case off waiting for a patch if ever there is one?

Also i dont have a problem with any other game i own*farcry,doom3,etc*

Any help or suggestion's would be greatful.

Just out of curiosity: Control Panel, Power Options is everything set to never?

Welcome to the club.

Sometimes mine does exactly what your is doing (signal error). Other times I get the looping sound and hard lock. Other times the graphics are screwed up and then the looping sound with a grand finale of the monitor error.

You are not alone.

Michaelsil1 yes everything is set to never in power option's it's one of the first thing's i do on a fresh install :thumbs:

It's seem's i'm not the only one with this prob then,i'd be happy just to know a fix is in the work's however long it may take.
It's been a nightmare having hl2/ccs on my hdd since the day of release and not yet being able to play them.

Oh well guess i can only hope wait and see if a fix is ever released?

Well the best thing todo is report the error to valve with an attached msinfo and all relevant details about your monitor etc etc.

Yes i already done this a couple of day's after purchasing hl2 but with no reply so i again reported it with attached msinfo and receieved an automated reply directing me to valve's website and a number of possible solution's none of which have worked?

Seem's i'm left high and dry.

Why not see if you can Troubleshot this yourself. Run msconfig uncheck Load Startup Items Reboot and see if the Game runs without incident. If the Game runs fine put a check on each Startup Item one at a time playing the Game until you find the culprit. Good luck.

Just had a quick google, seems to be a hardware fault.
