Monitor gone bad

I was wondering if anyone knows how well the ViewSonic E70FB 17"Flat Screen performs? If this one has any flaws or if there was a better monitor for the price. LINK
I have bought from buyxg.com before and they were good as several other people I know have also bought from here. I couldn't find this monitor for that price on Newegg otherwise I would buy from there.

I have a Viewsonic 19" flat screen CRT (A90f) and it has started to fail. One of the guns in the monitor is starting to go out and it turns a green/yellow tint. I guess it has been to too many LANs.
It no longer has a warranty so I'm looking for a replacement.

While I could find a well performing 19" flatscreen CRT to replace it for 200-250$ I have been debating dual display. I came across that Viewsonic at 125$ and it seems like a great 17" monitor from what I have read. At only 125$ I could have dual display for only 250$.

Or should I just go for the 19" flatscreen CRT for now and if I need a monitor for my 2nd pc buy one later. What do you guys suggest?

I do get into projects every once in awhile using video editing software and I encode/author SVCDs or video for just the PC. I also have a PC im putting together from older parts and could use the 2nd monitor for that later.
Does anyone use dual display that would care to share how useful it is?
What kind/brand of monitors do you guys like?

Well first flatscreens are TFT(Thin Film Transistor), big screens are CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) .
Good brands in my opinion:
Acer and iiyama

TFT preform well for a gamer if you use a digital connector.
So please check the back of your pc
Look for a strange connector that is usually white and next to the normal connector.
Using tft or crt is up to you.
I'm used to high refresh rates and high resolutions so I use CRT.

Well flatscreen and flat panel are different.
CRTs do have a flatscreen rather than curved (older CRTs models).

I really do not want a LCD flatpanel as I still need a performance display. Also CRTs are in my price range
Are their any comparable Samsung/NEC/Sony models priced at around $125?

if u use your tft for gaming i sugest as low a response time as possible... because that will stop a "ghosting effect" because the response time is how quickly each dot can change from black to white and back to black again the quicker the better

My friend was given a FX 5600 ultra and so he has a GF4 4200 128mb (dual display) gfx card laying around and just said he'd sell it to me for 30$. w00t
Great replacement for my PNY GeForce 2 64mb
Things are looking up! All I need now is a dvi-to-vga adapter for the dvi output and I'm set.

Alright, the 125$ Viewsonic monitor from buyxg.com was a good price but shipping for 2 monitors was 70$ fedex ground. Yeah right...I can get free shipping.

Newegg has the same monitor for 155$ but free Fedex saver shipping which comes to a total of $310 (10$ less than 320$ from buyxg.com including shipping).
So I looked around on Newegg and found the Viewsonic P75f+B
model (Pro series) for 179$ (189$ +10$ instant rebate) w/free shipping.

Thats more money obviously but do you think it's worth it?

It has an awesome Max resolution and refresh rates for all resolutions above expectations. Looks like an awesome monitor to have Vsync enabled on.

Bigger is better, and in the end you'll see you've wanted a 19''. I suggest the 19'' IMO.
..it's what I have now and I wouldn't go any smaller.

Yeah, the monitor I'm on right now is a 19" (but it's GREEN!) and just a bit ago I also had a 17" CRT.
I like the 19" but I do not mind the 17" at all.
I was hoping someone with dual display could tell me if they like their setup. That would help me choose. I know what a 19" is like but have no idea how practical dual display is.

I would hope it would allow me to multitask much better. 19" is nice especially for watching videos but I have a TV for that and is why I encode/author SVCD/CVDs.
For gaming, while I would like a 19" and have a big view it is not required and going to LANs I would perfer a 17" to tag along.
I guess I just have to think it through yet as I do not know which I will perfer.

Update:
Alright, bought 2 Viewsonic P75f+ B Monitors for 179$ @ Newegg.
None of the local places around here had any performance monitors nor any good brands. Newegg does include a 3 year manufacture warranty with this monitor which is good.

Table setup
Desktop

Love the setup. Lot of room and has helped with multitasking a lot.
Playing 3d games is great too as I can play on the 1st monitor while the 2nd is my 2d desktop (Instant msg program, IE etc).
Nvidia's new driver update (52.16) improved on nView and has a lot of great options to setup dual display.

Guess I better get busy on those projects filling up my harddrive!
