My monitor started effing up and now can no longer play my Gens or ZSNES emulators without going black. :( And I mean totally black. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't even work and I have to force a shut down using the power key. The monitor's power light even goes out too. I can see the LCD crystal flickering in the monitor, but the backlight also seems to go out if I try to run either of these emulators. I can still hear the music and everything, but no video.

Pretty sure it's the monitor too. switched it with a friends monitor the other day and they play just fine on his. The NEStopia NES emulator plays just fine though. Weird.

Never messed around with the emulator's settings/.ini files or anything. Could it be a DVI thing? I was thinking about getting a VGA cable to check and see if that would solve anything.

It's not the emulator that's messed up if it works on another monitor. How can this be? I've been playing these emulators using DVI for months now with no problems, then why would they suddenly go on the fritz on this particular monitor?

Nevermind. I found that the reason why I was having these troubles wasn't hardware related, but was because of some corrupt ISO files. WTF.

I have to run Gens and ZSNES in windowed mode though. Full-screen mode is still broken for some reason.

Tsk tsk, emulators are illegal y'know.

Not if it's considered abandonware. ;)

I own a Sega Genesis and SNES anyways, so in theory, I'm not stealing. Especially if I have the original game cartridges, (which I do).

EDIT> Just for though: I have over 200 Sega and SNES cartridges. :O

emulators are illegal?

No. Illegal use of emulators is illegal.

You don't want those Mom's Against Nintendo Entertainment System Piracy after you.

The MANESP are vicious in their prosecution!

That's what they all say. ;)

Who cares anyways? I mean really. It's not like these games can be found in any stores anymore, hence the reason it's called abandonware. If so, then I'd just buy replacement components for my consoles and just play the game(s) on the real deal.

I'd rather it be that way anyways, but unfortunately, publishers and devs these days have to appease all the younger noob gamers anymore with fancy graphics, deep storylines, etc.

I've been running a Playstation 2 emulator lately. I'm surprised how well it actually works. A lot of the games I get between 30-100 fps.
