im in the market for a moniter 19"-22" and iv looked at a lot of potiental ones but im just not sure how good they really are compared to each other. i dont want to spend $600US and finds out i could have spent $450US on a better one for one less inch. i would like to see a few sites that review moniters or something of that nature to make a purchase that i wont regret.

i am currently looking at:

and yes i do plan to purchase from newegg.com iv had very good experiences with them.

I was under the impression that the CRT was pretty much solid technology at this point, and that it doesn't really matter what you get. Anyone care to correct me?

I'm hunting for a new monitor too. Something that supports 1280x1280 at 80hz. I'm going to contact friends first though, hopefully I'll get a CRT on the cheap from somebody's flatscreen upgrade.

Samsung = awesome
Viewsonic = awesome

The first Viewsonic can go slightly higher resolution than the Samsung with similar refreshrate.
1600x with 87Hz vs 1280x with 85Hz

The last Viewsonic is a different type of filter. Rather than shadow mask, it uses an aperture grille.
It lets a lot more color through and is an awesome monitor but nothing you need.
The monitor's I have use an aperture grille.

Here are the differences.

for the most part.....but samsung and VS have made some lemon monitors(especialy VS)

btw...i own the 1100df

its great.

iv been looking at the specs a little harder and i believe im goiing ot go for the samsung 1100df. anyone has input or objections please feel more than free to post.

I'm on the same boat, also looking to buy a 20 to 22" monitor in the coming weeks, but I would feel more secure with my purchase with some guide as to what to/not to purchase.

I'm willing to spend like $500 or so (don't want an LCD), anyone have any suggestions? There aren't many retailers around here where I can actually test the monitors for myself, much less a 20" and above.

the only down sides of the 1100df...

*its big

*its very heavy

*it produces alot of heat(but all crt monitors like this do)

*it uses more juice than a 17"er

*setting it up to get it to look how you want it can be a pain.(though thats not uncommon)

all of that applies to any CRT over 19" though.....
