Did anyone see it, I saw the trailer yonks back, and thought "meh" but I saw it the other night, and it was very clever.

The countless movie references are brilliant.

Anyone else seen it?

It was ok. Nothing amazing at all. Lots of really stupid jokes and some of the humour reminded me of new Simpsons episodes, for instance, nothing the president did was funny.

It was ok and entertaining. Some of the talent was wasted to be honest.

It was a bit flat. Seth Rogen made the film for me though, his laugh is so damn infectious.

It is up for an Oscar though along with 4 other films like Up and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs.

Well duh.

The oscar belongs to Up, as if there was any doubt. The only outside upset I think that will be permitted will be Princess and the Frog if only simply to acknowledge that 2D films can still be relevant. Not that Ponyo scraped a 3rd dimension from anywhere, but that would require the academy to actually watch more than two movies from the animation shortlist which just isn't going to happen.

The Oscar is going to go to Up, but it BELONGS to The Secret of Kells. Anyone who thinks different can take it up with Aisling.

Which reminds me, there's a thread on Up and there's a thread on Monsters vs. Aliens, and there's a thread on stop-motion animated films (most of which are on the Oscar shortlist), but there's no Secret of Kells thread on this board at all. For shame.

I don't know a single person who's seen that film.

Well, I actually haven't heard of it. Maybe you could make a thread about it?

I have. It is amazing. The animation is smooth, the story is epic, and the style is... shapely.
