What to Expect: Speaking of blockbusters, can anyone think of a PC game as intensely watched and overwhelmingly anticipated as Valve's Half-Life 2? Sure, DOOM 3 is hot, but for many of us, this little title is the hottest of them all. Year-long delays, code thefts, the controversy of the Steam service: that none of these things have really diminished the frothing anticipation we have for the game says a lot about how much Valve has impressed us so far. And while much as been said of the technological advances made for Gordon Freeman's next adventure, we expect all the visual bells and physics whistles to take second seat to a huge serving of Valve's trademark story and game play expertise. At this year's E3, Valve reported the game should be complete this summer, and we can certainly hope. Soon almost every PC gamer will be visiting City 17. We've booked our rooms well in

As much as I'd absolutely *love* to 100% believe that, I'm going to assume November (preparing for the worst), until word from VALVe. But this is new to me.
 
Yep, September, a year after the "Original" release date.
 
the good about a summer release is that everibody are in vacations
 
September at earliest, is my greatest guess... But def. by november, if not... I'm going to be overwhelmingly sad.

Late October is acceptable, Early September is entirely possible. Anytime November will make me sad :(
 
Yeah... But, I think that in the end, it'll be WORTH the wait!

Medal of Honor: Pacific Assualt is supposed to be coming this summer.........hmmmmm

It would be awfuly nice if they released Half-Life 2 this summer, I've been a good wittle boy :p
 
I really wouldn't worry about the release date. Then you won't get upset if its pushed back. And if it goes gold, you will be pleasantly surprised.
 
definately by august, if not then september, but if not then, im thinking either october through early december most assuredly. although if it doesn't come out by then, ill say late january or early februrary, possibly march through june, if it still doesn't come out, then maybe july or early august, if not then sometime september through november. hope that clears things up for you.
 
Well, I will be buying Doom 3. When and if HL2 comes out, I will be downloading it off Steam.
At the same time, I will download the ISO from someone so I can have some sort of backup system in case of a steam FAILURE! SINSE STEAM IS NOT ready for it.
I REALLY HOPE that Valve does attack people that share the CD/DVD what ever it may be.
After a week or two when I give Valve/ATI time to recover from the release. I will send out my coupon to receive yet another copy of the half-life CD/DVD. However, that will depend on weather ATI is planning on screwing us over or not. That is why I am going to wait a few weeks to make sure that they aren't going to screw us.
If ATI screws us over, I will never buy a ATI product over again.

Well, I am sure that no one is reading this. But, at least I got it out of my mind and a working plan of what I am thousands are going to do.
I wonder if I should start programming my AI program yet. Maybe by the time I finish, computers will be fast enough to run the advanced program.
Companies have wasted soo much time on AI, it will be funny when a expert like myself finishes my program then runs it for a year or two to allow it to learn. Then freely sends it out to millions. Now I bet some Beeping company is going to try to pass a law to stop people like me from doing great work.
Oh, by the way, us earth people are allowed to make backups of whatever we want. Screw that new fake law that states that we can't talk about ways to copy a freaking CD.
We will always find a way to do it and we WILL win. Also, by the time longhorn comes out, we will hack the shit out of it to make sure that the government can't watch us.

dude, you never believe those things, they are gay. thats right.. gay. they just have a release date from what they were last told. Its not like an terminal where it would say "delayed".

its nice that you're optimistic about longhorn being able to be easily hacked in the future. but the hardware you buy in the future will have palladium tech, which will interface with longhorn. so unless you find some way to hardmod your stuff + get a working software crack(and have it still function), OR keep your old hardware and old windows you aren't going to find a way around it.

it was only a matter of time before MS got serious about this. do you think software companies would get ripped off till the end of time? its easy to say, 'they will find a way to crack it', but that's with just software, soon it will be a different ballgame. this is just the next progression to a big brother OS(regrettably), all thanks to your neighborhood idiot pirates. but believe whatever you can to keep your mind off of the grim future.

How can you be tired of it? I mean, what does it require you to do? Do you stare at www.half-life2.com F5'ing until a releasedate shows up? It doesn't require any energy for me, I get on with my life and any date of when it comes out is fine by me (of course rather sooner than later) and only if it's truely ready. There will be plenty of games in the meantime.

So how can you be tired of it? It's a freaking game ffs.

They are? You mean they have a same sex relation? Or were you using it as a derogatory word?

Sorry, it's late, I'm tired, and I really hate people using the word gay in a negative way. It's a stupid trend that does nothing but harm and is offensive to gays and other's like myself who have friends who are gay. It's no different than a hundred other derogatory words people have made up in the past for minorities in some sort of effort to put them down and make them less than human. But perhaps you are like a lot of people who use it because it's popular and don't really think about what it means or implies. If so then think about it now please. Thanks.

It will come out in August or September. Stop saying November! Seriously, why do you think it would come out in November? That's just stupid. Valve have stated millions of times that the game is finished and they're now only fixing bugs and fine tuning it. And the latest "We can be down to zero bugs in 16 days" estimate supports this.
 
I dont think it will come out as late as November, im guessing Sept. or October, there almost done with it anyways, shoudnt be too long
 
November is still a safer estimate for a definate release, but september looks very realistic.
 
i think it would come out in late august or early september... november is too late!!! if they send the RC on the 31st of july why would it take it that long to publish?
 
It woundt take that long unless they find a major bug or something, and knowing vivendi, they will be smart and try and get it out as soon as posssible
 
There's a fine line between Summer and Autumn, Half-Life 2 is being released on that line.

And it's a year long delay, not some year long delays. It's only happened once.
