After all the problems with steam I am now left with this problem everytime I try to load up...

Steam.exe - application error

The exception unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) occurred in the application at location 0x031da3b5

debug or terminate program(neither will let me play the game)

Before all the servers went down I could play Counter strike without and problems. Now I believe the servers are back up I get this message as soon as I start to load up. Maybe I tried loading up 1 too many times while they were down??

I saw on another thread somebody suggesting deleting the clientregistry.blob file and reconnecting. I did this and it did some downloading then gave me the same message.

Ive run 2 anti-spywares and 1 antivirus.

FYI whilst the servers were down I took advantage of the time by doing my windows update(I have XP service pack 2)and there were quite a few updates there.

Any help please?

PS

I uninstalled the steam.exe and then reinstalled from the CD but still the same problem.

HELP please.

Try turning off all other background applications to see if they interfere with Steam. Xfire is known to crash Steam sometimes, but other programs may also be to blame.

Thanks for the reply but it didn't help.

Not sure what to do now ;(

I want to play :sniper: :sniper: :sniper:

Check out this page for further help: link. However, you may have to send a Steam Support Ticket, because I didn't find your problem after some searching. Make sure you have a look at the general troubleshooting tips for Steam.

Cheers buddy

Already looked and already asked them....just waiting for a reply(might be a while as I guess they got alot of questions when the servers went down in the storm).
