R600 details and it looks they are aiming for Jan. 30th (Vista timeframe)

They said the board is shorter than the 8800 but the cooler is quite large. And they said "The thermal budget is around 200-220 Watts and the board should not consume more power than a Geforce 8800GTX." Surprising really.

ATI's 64 shaders can do 4 scaler units each (64x4=256). So you can't really compare it to Nvidia's 128 simple shaders which do 1 scaler unit each (128x1=128).

I hope this presents a larger performance boost that seen in the 8800gtx from current generation cards. Sure the 8800 is a jump is performance, but not quite a huge leap.....

IDK Twice the performance is a pretty big jump. Obviously you have to get your bottlenecks out of the way and the game has to be demanding enough to show the difference in power otherwise you won't be looking at such a big difference.
Dark Messiah of M&M (not the candy) :p

But DX10 performance will be what to really watch. How much faster or how much more detail they are able to add over DX9.

Whooo hooo! Makes me happy I didn't buy that 8800

As much as I like hearing about R600, I'd really like to know what happened to RD600. I've been waiting til I hear about them to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo.

Lmao, that's was exactly my thought when i read that comment !!! Is 200% the performance not considered a large jump in performance over the previous generation ?! Lol.
