More Unreal Tournament 2007. Gamespot has a new preview.

So many UT topics as of late. I just wish Epic would be so open about their project on the X-Box 360.

Yes UT2K7 looks like it shall rock, too bad I won't be afford to upgrade my pc for it :( Car payments will own me then. :(

The engine will have support for advanced special effects, including high dynamic range lighting--which is an advanced form of lighting that can make a completely flat surface appear to have protruding features, like a brick wall built from jagged, uneven stones--

I hate trying to be a know it all (usually blows up in your face), but I think Gamespot need to educate their reviewers.....

It's unbelievably sexy looking and sounding.

Its coming out in 2006 not 2007. Its been confirmed.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. It made me wonder if they even have gamers writing this shit.

Besides, it's not like what he's describing is new.

Unreal Engine 3 tech is nice and all, but I hate the way so many are getting caught up in the PR campaign and putting it on a pedestal. It is far from that amazing, it's just that we don't have anything to compare it with yet. I'm more interested in what id is working on.

Id software artist Patrick Thomas had this to say in reply to the 3 Ut2007 wallpapers: "Wow! I really hope they're releaseing that tech before 2007. if not they are seriously going to be left in the dust this time next year." We will just have to wait.

That's great, Patrick! Now, where are your in game screenshots?

But yeah, he's right, this stuff will be up against some serious competition in a year or so's time.

Agreed. Epic made a VERY smart move by promoting purely an engine so early on, before even one game was announced. Everyone thinks it's godly and it's mentioned in every conversation about graphics.

That ingame screenshot is certainly better than we have today, but that's mostly to the great character modeling, and HDR, the textures overall and polycounts, are not impressive at all.

Wouldn't id's next engine be Carmack's last project? Heard they aimed for FF: the Movie quality.

nah, carmack only mentioned that graphics in games will meet finalfantasy quality soon, he didnt mentioned anything abotu how his new engine will be and what comparable media there is toward what carmack targets with his new engine, and yes, it will be his last. but you'l never know, he might do a cherr on us and make another one
