A political bombshell for New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. The Democrat and former New York Attorney General has been linked to a prostitution ring. On Monday afternoon he apologized to his family and the public at a brief news conference.

ok this time a democrat, but it just goes to show how hypocrite US politicians are.

personally i'd be so pleased if some other that the usual black or white party won the elections.

Politicians are all lying two faced scum bags. Some are just more subtle than others.
 
Well look on the bright side, at least this guy didn't run on a platform of family values.

But he did prosecute prostitution cases before. Total hypocrite.

Heard about this on NPR.

Meeting them while prosecuting against them? Fine. It's almost too be expected nowadays. Hell, he does most politicians better by admitting the whole thing as soon as he got caught.

What gets me most is that he payed the girl nearly $4000. Though I can't seem to find a direct quote at the moment. That, and $4000 may be the, er, average fare for that kind of service. Maybe one of you could tell me?

He may be looking at Federal charges for wiring money interstate for the purposes of criminal enterprise. There are no Federal misdemeanors.

actually in reality it's probably more like this:


"Spitzer my dear boy what did they unjustly accuse you of?"

"oh you know insider trading, bribing officials (sorry about the late payment), padding overseas contracts etc ..you simply must come down to the library for a nightcap, everyone will be there; Biff, Chauncy, Ruteger, the girls from Enron, Senator Craig .."


incidentily I was hunting down some names of disgraced politicians and found that for the most part democrats were caught cheating on their wives with other women ..the republican politicians, the supposedly conservative wing of US politics, were caught in some pretty freaky situations:

now that's not to say there hasnt been a democrat caught in a gay affair or a republican having an affair with women ...it's just funny that the more conservative a politiican is the more likely they are to have a gay affair with underage prostitutes while smoking crack and wearing a leather gimp outfit ..being republican automatically increases that likelihood exponentially ..I think it's a phenomenon that warrents further investigation ..at least for irony's sake

Actually... it may be much worse for former Gov. Spitzer.

If you base the argument about it being a "personal issue", etc... you're ignoring the facts that he used his position as an elected official to not only arrange and pay for these girls, but more importantly, he spent over $80,000 in ways that violate various disclosure laws to the IRS... AND... he's looking into charges due to him transporting these girls across state lines, money laundering, and more.

He's also expected to lose his law license.

We'll be hearing a lot more about his federal crimes due to this being an interstate issue and his lying to the IRS when he didn't disclose these big transactions across states.

not to mention the fact that this has been going on for at least 10 years, back to when he was the Attorney General. He went after several big prostitution rings back then, successfully prosecuting several people for it. Hypocrite doesn't even begin to describe him.
