Hey all, I was just curious on what YOU think is the most creative enemy in the series. I'm leaning towards the ever-iconic headcrabs, they're just so unique, and scary when shown properly.

Hound eyes.

They were always one of the most interesting enemies, to me. Hopping around and chirping, then that crazy alarm-like sound before they unleash some kind of shockwave. I still don't understand it, but it's cool.

most creative? i would say the one that never got featured in a game: mr friendly

Chubtoads (also known as chumtoads).

Manhacks. Terrifying when you first meet them, very much fun after you get the gravity gun.

I didn't know you could even use the gravgun against manhacks. I used the crowbar. Every. Single. Time.

Heh yeah, It took me a while to figure it out too. I allways thought that a few pistol shots will ground it. God, how I miss that level with the sh*t load of explosive barrels - and manhacks for sure. :)

I like the synths in general, they have amazing designs. And really unique sounds.

Crawling Zombies, can't remember a time I played a game before HL2 that had that. I shouldn't say it was something new to video games but to me I wasn't expecting it and I think it was a welcome edition to the series and created more a challenge

Manhacks.

I remember back in '04 one of my mates saying that they were an ingenious idea, despite the fact that they weren't real.

um....big daddy/little sister combo anyone?

wrong game

Gotta go with headcrabs. First time I saw one, half life alpha I played god long time ago, I jumped out of my chair yelling 'oh shit!' and I don't scare easily!!! haha

Synths. Bioengineering was a knwon concept well before HL2, but I think that was the first time it's been featured in a video game.

The most complete enemies to fight are the hunters, so that'll be my answer.
And yeah, there have been numerous, also quite famous, examples of bioengineering before Half-Life 2 (even Half-Life had it).

I love the gunships. They are such a strange creature that looks like it was never meant to fly(it almost looks like a sea creature), but was forced to(it almost sounds like they're shrieking in pain when they take hard turns). The drop ships too. Some kind of crustacean-like creature that carries the pod the drops are contained in. Very cool. Also the way it looks like the strider's genitalia appears to have been manipulated into a kind of weapon is a very dark, sadistic notion(not saying it is the genitalia but it certainly looks like it)
