Most expensive XB1 game gets prequel!

I'm intimidated by the cockpit controller.

It's really not as hard to use as it may look!

I actually never beat Steel Battalion, on top of the gameplay itself being quite hard, it also had permadeath, that's right, if you actually died during your game, you had to start all over again, an entirely new campaign, luckily you could eject, which meant you only lost your hard-earned mech but kept your life and progress.

so this is like Demon's Souls but in a Mech Warrior with confusing controls?? Count me in, games like this make you like you have accomplished something

where on earth did you draw the Demon's Souls comparison from?

the insanely hard combat. my point of reference is different than yours on the game because even my insert for the instructions was written in a different language. I imported the game long before it was here in the US. but yeah its like dropping you off in the heat of battle and not even saying "good luck"

Was the first Steel Battalion only on normal xbox?

Yep. This game has piqued my constant interest since I learned about it. I never ended up buying it, but I always liked the dedication to realism. Now it'll be even better [edit] except it's using Kinect, so now, hmm. Maybe it'll be exactly what Kinect needs, but I don't like the technology yet.

Let me guess, you'll have to buy a new controller. They won't offer any way to adapt it to the xbox 360.

When I read op's post, I assumed "new game" meant "new awesome badass controller v2.445343 to the max", but... oh jesus I hope it's not using kinect to play.

I can't look like i'm giving a handjob to someone in the living room or anywhere for that matter.

If it uses Kinect plus a huge third party controller deck, I'll be extremely interested.

I think it'll be kinect only. Which means this one will not be nearly as good.

I know, but I've waited so long for a next-gen Steel Battalion game, I can't wait to get hyped.

I even sent an email to Capcom once about it and they replied that they had nothing officially planned yet, this was 4 years ago mind you.

I even suggested they'd make it so one could use the old SB1 controller with it, I mean one can use the SB1 controller on PC, so why couldn't they make it usable on the 360!?

IF this is Kinect only, I won't get it, I probably won't get Kinect.

The whole idea of using motion-control without any physical controller in your hand seems kinda weird to me.

Yeah, they debuted it with all of the other Kinect titles and the basic idea behind the game is, "What if all the computers disappeared?" so that leads me to believe it is Kinect only which is 100% bizarre. How do you go from a game requiring the most complicated controller out there to one that requires NO CONTROLLER (but still requires and extra expenditure of $150 for the no-controller??)

Oh man oh god oh man oh god oh man. I remember wanting to play the first so bad after seeing the setup in a magazine back when it came out and realizing there was no way in hell I would be able to afford it.

So in my head I have this idea of what it will look like using Kinect...

All of the controls will be on the hud around you and you'll be waving your arms around to trigger them. It could be neat but I figure it will suck because I'm still pessimistic about Kinect.

I always thought Steal Battalion looked cool/insane. What was it actually like to play?

Great, hard but great, especially for a mech-fan such as myself.
