I'm at school right now so I don't have long to stay on these forums so I need help pretty quick. My computer at home is down right now and I need help with it. On Sunday I bought a new ASUS KV8-SE Deluxe Athon 64 motherboard with an AMD Athlon 64 3200. I managed to get everything finished and plugged in yesterday but when I went to turn it on, it wouldn't boot up. There is powering going to everything though. The Motherboard light is on, the DVD and CD ROM drives blink when I turn the power on, and all the fans turn on, but, the computer doesn't boot up at all. It just stays a blank screen and nothing happens. So, what could be the problem? Bad Motherboard, Processor, or RAM? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

My mobo did exactly the same, turned out the mobo was completely borked so i sent it back and got a new one

Does it post?

Sounds like it could be a bad motherboard. You may have to RMA (return) it.

No, I don't think so. It doesn't make any beeps or nothing. When I power it on, everything turns on like the fans and stuff but I don't hear it loading anything or make any beeps at all.

Yeah, I am betting its a bad motherboard. I would return it.
Yeah, I guess I will. Should I take back the processor too and get an new one with the new motherboard or is it safe to say that the processor is fine.

Check to see that the power is plugged into the plug for the processor. I know that P4's have a special power plug that needs to be plugged in for them to work. I know you have an AMD but maybe there is something similar. Let us know what happenes

I'm guessing the default BIOS settings are fubar - so just pull out the bios battery and replace it again after a few seconds to return them to default - if this does nothing read the manual and check if theres any motherboard jumper/switches you're supposed to configure.

Power supply switched on?
Case power on button plugged into the right pin on the board?
power supply red switch set to 115 volt?
cpu fan plugged into the motherboard in the CPU fan plug?
reseat the RAM.
check jumpers with manual.
RMA board.

make sure your speaker/LEDs/front buttons are oriented correctly.
Reseat the video card.

Try clearing the CMOS, there are instructions on how to do that in your mobo's manual. If that doesn't work it might be because your mobo is shortning.

well im suprised nobody has sugested this yet but, have you checked to see if your video card is slotted in properly? My mobo does exactly what you describe if this is the case... also do you have a dual output on you vid card? if so try swapping which port the monitor is plugged into

Okay, guys. Turns out motherboard was fine some things were just not plugged in right or something was unplugged, I don't know, my dad fixed it but just to let everyone know everythings working fine now so you can let this thread die or some mod can close it. Thanks for all the help guys.
