Mount & Blade is a good action rpg I found. It has more realistic medieval combat on a personal level then any other games I have played. The graphics are not up to date but the trial is worth the download.

And it also supports mass combat, not the degree of a RTS (escpecially not Rome: Total War) though.

I recently found the game as well. A few weeks back. I must say I liked this game so much, I paid for the beta, so I wouldnt have a level limit. THe game is hugely unfinished, no idea when it will be finished since its being made by a guy and his wife I think... but the combat in it is unlike any other game i've seen, and strikes me as a realistic medieval styled combat system.

I especially like the mounted combat. TRUELY a blast. For me anyways. Download the demo, try it out.

Yay another one :) .

I could use some hints on how to use a lance. Never seen to be able to cause crouched lance damage :(

I probubly will pay for it as well.

To use a lance, you need to have a mount that goes fast enough that your guy will automatically lower his lance at the side of the horse. I think it has to be a speed of 8 or 9, or higher. Cant remember what the minimum is. To do the special lance damage, you need to ride adjacent to the enemy unit, to the left of them(since the lance is on the right!), and hold it there as you pass by. Don't hold the weapon as if you were going to strike with it... just let the game handle it, and you guide the horse. If he's going fast enough, it'll lower itself, and you just need to manuever him into the spot.

That type of damage is poooowerful... i've gotten good at it, and its quite easy to do.

I only wish this game had multiplayer, even if it was in an arena styled fashion.
