Mouse doesn't work in Options window

My mouse won't work when in the options screen. It worked in the game and does in windows and other games at all other times. This problem means that having saved my first go at Half Life 2:2 and now returning to it I can't select the last gave save icon in the load/save screen. I have been able to move thru some parts of the options screen using keys but can't select a past save to load and also can't reset mouse sensitivity.

I have a Logitech M305 wireless mouse and use Windows 7

Any suggestions please?
