Im looking for a good gaming mouse mat that works well with optical mice, however don't want to spend a fortune, about ?15 would be good. Has anyone got any good recomendations?

Cheers

Raptor mats are around that price range.

Personally I prefer no mouse mat at all, the mouse glides over my desk nicely.

Don't remember how much Func's mats cost but those are damn good. You should also try testing Ultimat Breathe.

Ditto. Haven't used a mouse mat for years, except for at work.

Corepad EYEpad is my favourite pad so far (I've had a lot), and it's only €10 for the XL version. It's a cloth pad. If you seriously hate cloth pads for some reason, the Razer exactmat is a really good pad too, though a bit small.

I use some generic cloth pad I found in my closet, that was probably free. Works fine, and will basically last forever.

Used to use more specialized optical ones, but I detested most of them... Either uncomfortable for my wrist, my fingers would drag on it, mouse would flip out on them, etc etc etc...

I use an Allsop steel mat - looks nice, big and almost frictionless. It's fairly picky with optical mouses though - but works great with my primary mouse - MX 700.

If you want even less friction, shave off the feet of your mouse and superglue some small steel washers underneath instead.

Func mats are the nuts. When I was heavily into clan play i'd go through one every 6 months of so (heavy mouse and huge swipes due to a low sensitivity wears these babies away). I've tried various 'high end' mouse mats and func pads were my fave (rough side > smooth). You'd be suprised how much they can improve your game when coupled with a decent mouse.

I have the Func 1030 Archetype or something. It's the double-sided one with the separate mousepad "frame" that holds the pad itself. I haven't had a single problem with it since I bought it over a year ago, it's perfect. Did set me back about $30 though.

Cheers for the advice guys, I'll look into some of the ones sudjested. :)

Depends if you like cloth or hard pads. More detailed surface for the sensor or smooth gliding. If you use high or low sensitivity for the mouse might make a difference.

I have a func pad atm. Steelseries Qck pads are good (cloth).

Just stick with a retro one. I used to get Rockwell Mouse pads from garage sales and stuff and I STILL use them. THere are teh pwnage if they are vintage you know. To be pro you must be humble.

Looks like I need to humble up.
