I have been having problems with my mouse when playing older games such as Half-Life and Quake 2. What happens is that my mouse will not always respond to movements. So if I move my mouse right, my character will look right about 5 seconds after I do it. It makes these games nearly unplayable.

My mouse works perfectly in new games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield Vietnam.

Other info:

USB Optical Mouse
Windows XP Home Edition

Thanks for any help.

Hmm didn't know about the limit. Had exactly ten above. :p

Well if it was on I would have suggested disabling it or reducing the amount of buffered frames. I guess you're probably not using Glide, so is it D3D or OpenGL then, and have you tried the other? (To me it sounds like a problem with your video drivers). Still try to reduce the number of buffered frames, though I'm not confident it will help anymore.

Wouldn't you know, it is a OpenGL problem.

How would I reduce the number of buffered frames?

Thanks for your help.

Glad to help. (You should try updating your OpenGL driver btw).

It depends on the driver set you have, really...you might need something like RivaTuner as I just looked through my nVidia driver options and couldn't find it (sorry :p). I've never really had to adjust it with my non-3dfx cards (the 3dfx Tools allow you to set it easily).

I have a radeon 9600 Pro. I am currently using the 4.3 Cat drivers (to lazy to install the new ones).

My control panel doesn't have any options like the ones you are describing. I guess Quake 2 will go in my pile of games that are ravaged by technology. ;(

Are your video card settings set to default? Because sometimes when I use AA and FSAA on a few games, it will cause mouse lag.
