I've got an original mod idea JFCh!!! war of the races.It takes place in a barn and it's war between the clans of mouses! yea you heard me! little tricky mouses! HL2 physics and whole stuff a bunch of new features bullet time and stuff.THat's really original idea! REALLY ORIGINAL! what do you think guys or maybe someone think that it is not original, and i am stealing something? yea i am stealling ideas from mother nature o gosh she will sue me for this i am done oh god! :flame: :flame: :flame: or maybe a cat and mouses ona person is a Big cat and 30 others are mouses and it's kind of survive gameplay,survive and reach the cheese. wow need more gameplay ideas.I hope that Dark Elf will love this really original idea and will not close my thread.! because he likes only really original ideas! since he's a GOD

I usually try to be patient with mod threads but accept that avp is not an original idea, it is copyright material to the nines and unlikely to get off the ground. Contact fox get some official permission then come back to us. As Elf says lose the attitude please , just because we don't agree with you is not an excuse to have a tantrum and an oversized sig.

Use common sense, if you don't own it, you can't make it without permission. Get permission as Hotsoup suggests, then we'll not have a problem. Until then your not allowed to make a mod of someone elses property. We're not gonna get in trouble for your mistakes.

It's pretty much common sense - using licenses like the Alien or Predator movies are obviously not going to be allowed unless you get direct permission.

Look we're all for new mods with great idea's and solid stuff beneath them. But like we say starting from a premise of something that is copyrgiht, has several existing games and will no doubt have ones again witht he film it's simply a flawed position. I'd love to play avp in source as much as the next fan but unless you get permission it's wrong and naughty. It's not about us crushing dreams it's about us trying to get people to see this

You'll care when your officially told to stop, don't expect Fox to be easy on you like w have. It's a drop in the ocean for them to screw you around and make you an example to others not to steal they're property.. They don't care what happens to you, your nothing to them, your less than nothing, just a smear on the pavement to people like that, hell it would all be dealt with by departments, before you know it your parents will be having to sell their house to pay court fee's, you'll be banned from the net and made to live with your aunt. And the next 20 years of your life ruined, and a mark against you in police records.

All because you couldn't think of an idea that didnt involve stealing a large company's property.

Course thats if you do it, which you wont, I'll put money on that.

Giger created the design, but he doesn't have much in way of claim on it anymore, Fox and Brandywine have.

So your first port of call would be to contact a nearby Fox office, find out the name and department of the person you need to speak to, which will probably involve a call to hollywood, you'll likely speak to the assistant secretary of the assistant of the guy/girl you need to speak to.

Course, consider than you and 400 other people are likely calling every day asking for permission. Which is why you'll very unlikely get to the person you need and just they're assistants or assistants assistants, or people paid just to deal with people asking for permission.

And also bare in mind they'll only give permission to those that seem worth it, IF they even give it atall. Considering there is highly likely to be a new AvP game in the works but based on the movie. You can probably kiss a chance of getting permission for it goodbye.

When you consider that even large powerful groups/studios struggle to get permission, and that even licencing will cost them thousands and force them to stick to specific rules. One kid doesn't stand much of a chance.

I don't see why you can't work and develop on this mouseclan mod. That was a neat idea and certainly different.

H2Hsnake, right now I am working my ass off to design a solid and original SCI-FI universe with as little imitating of other well known universes and franchises, to be used in a mod. I am planning to do the script myself aswell as composing the music and other elements.

They are right, you know. Using licenses is unoriginal, lame and a copyright infringement. If you'd like to know more of this idea I've got, tell me.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but yeah it's a pity not being able to create a modification just like that from a movie or something, that's just the way it is in todays society. I've got some pretty cool ideas though, I think it will turn out great.

There's no need to be angry at the moderators. They're not the ones holding the hammer, they're just pointing at it and telling you that it will fall and smash you if you steal the trademark elements and franchises from a huge hollywood company.

Hey, I loved AvP and AvP2 (most.. dux hehe) and I would love to see an AvP mod on Source and a pure Aliens mod using the Doom engine.. I'm sure many others would like it too. But rules are rules, and the law is the law. And if they start allowing one kind, then another and another and suddenly nobody has any rights to their own work anymore. Costly for both big and small. Nobody would do anything for fear of it being stolen by someone else and no law to protect them.

So from the point of view of the copyright holders, its a good law and should be upheld. I'd not want something of mine stolen and I actively pursue it with lawyers. So I can't at any time condone the practice, even though I personally would like to see it. It wont unless its legit. Sorry

i like both.. why not have mouse vs mouse. And have another game method of mouse vs cat, or mice vs cat

Give the cat tons of AI so it can do just about anything. Could have a lot of fun

one of your maps could be a whole house, all built much bigger so your very small mousing around

different SP games aswell, find the cheese, escape the cat, mice vs mice. avoid the mouse traps etc. and so on

actually i am wondering about detailed skins you know shaders or something, visible furr,, and the cat shouldn't be AI controled but player controled .( and i am not talking about 4 players controling one cat) one player is CAt, ok depending of the size of the map there may be 2 players as cats.
A big map, a house map would be cool.Where the mice should be able to push from the table some things on the cat's head with all this cool physic.No shooting, no weapons just using stealth and your brain Team survivor\Capture the cheese\king of the barn (not sure how it should looks like,cause i don't see how the mouse can kill a CAt, maybe 10 mouses biting his throat at once dunno yet, or just hiding in a cans or other trash and stuff till the time runs out)Crazy Harji write to me about our SCIFI mod write to my e mail - [email protected]

i think i 'll do it, it's not that hard as it may seem.first i'll make simple models of mouses, that is up to mapper to make good map with all the stuff and textures, so we can try out tha physic, and i am sure that people will play it just for fun, wait till you seee may player model "razor roxor thundercracker" a mouse veteran with one eye ,lolfor now i have only concept art and i can't include it here cause it's on paper and i don't have scanner and that sux!!!!! arrgghhhh... IchI, you can't deny though that his pisstake idea is actually capable of being quite a fun little mod.

Goes to show, the good idea's always turn up when you least expect it. He spends ages on a AvP idea, its naff, he throws an idea together in seconds and people are wanting to see that one made.

As to the Avp we didn't close this mod.We are going to make it but with great overcome of the legal issues so everyone even Dark Elf can safetly speak about ideas and gameplay to this mod and not afraid of troubles from FOX company.We're going to rename all things so nothing will be stolen from AVP universe maybe except for the marines because it is not AVp universe lol.We will make all models propper hight and shapes and animations (including weapon) so they can be easly replaced by the custom stuff related to AVp universe , so everyone can do this on his own responsibility.I doubt if some unnamed player will release somewhere AVP models someone form FOX will care gosh it's so easy.This way game will have original skins and models and sounds,and if someone wants to ,he can turn this game easly into AVp mod and i am sure everyone will lol,hmm except if our models will be better then avp theme models lol.

the mouse trap (hey why not call it that, mouse trap) maps should be easy to do

You could make one very big house and set 90% of the game just in that. Maybe to keep people interested, only open one area up at a time. eg: start in the kitchen, and then the next map you can move into the living room, so on and so forth. By the end of the SP game you've got access to the whole house.

Have all the pots and pans n other stuff in a house using physics, so your more using the household items around you for beating that darn cat (hey call it that darn cat!) rather than running around all the time with makeshift mouse weapons

as for mouse weapons, well they'd not have guns, but they might have pop guns, with a cork on the end, can't kill anything with one but might me useful for stunning the cat in the nose if it gets too close to you.

Maybe part of the game, or one of the MP games, is to avoid being seen by the owners of the house, or worse stepped on by them. Aswell as avoiding the cat and at the same time trying to get things to happen so the cat is blamed and not the mouse, maybe one of the aims of a MP game is to get the cat kicked out of the house.

And before anyone says it, his mouse idea ISN'T based on Tom and Jerry. Just like marines, nobody actually owns the rights to a cat vs mice game.

hmmm, tbh. I wouldn't. Think about it. Its like one of those flash games you play once or twice and then don't go back. Not to mention the fact that H2HSnake has a lack of mod skills and seems to want to make all this stuff but really doesn't have a clue about how to do it. I mean, by all means try and hopfully u will succeed. But by the way you talk and type you would proberly have a better chance making forum smilies. Not to mention the fact you seem to come across the kind of person who will have this idea for about 5 days, then have another and change it. Then another. Then after about a mount you truly understand how the develope of a mod is made and produced. Then you realise you need to plan and structure things.

I'm pritty much flaming you there. But I can't say I have any excuse.
