I'm having a movement issue that's really bothering me. Every now and then when I'm in the game and walking I start walk/hopping similar to a stutter. This happens when I'm crouched down or just walking and I've tried re-editing the keys, restarting my gamepad, trying it on the keyboard, resetting the config file and nothing seems to work. I tried looking for a solution or a mention online but I didn't seem to find one. It seems to happen in all directions that I move and I'm lost as to what to do. It's really frustrating trying to sneak across the autogun field and not get killed because I keep popping up like a target for them .

me too, and others I found

Yeah, this is happening to me. :flame: I first noticed it in the "under the radar" level. I have searched a few forums and found a thread started by someone with the same problem with two or three replies who also have it. It was pretty new, started today and someone said maybe it was caused by the latest update.
It isn't just that level, I loaded up a save from an older point and it was doing it too.
One reply suggested validating the game via Steam which I tried and it doesn't help. I even tried changing to a different keyboard because I thought my original one was sending false key-presses, but that didn't help either.;(

Yeah I got this too. After weeks of tackling ATI Mobility drivers, Page Pool limits and other stupid bugs, I Finally got Episode 1, Portal and TF2 to run smoothly! Tonight I tried to play Episode 2 it's jumping around like someone's tapping the crouch button every so often.

But I got news for you pal... When I check my Crouch button... No one's there!

 Yarghahahahargh Bugs Suck

:x OMFG HEAL PLZ :sniper:

I'm having the same issue. My problem also started on the level "under the radar." It's not a stutter. The weird thing is, when i go back and play other levels, they have the same problem... This makes me think that the issue is new and might be a result of an update.

Here's what happens, when you walk over certain grass "sprites" it appears as though "clipping" is set on these, just as if you were to walk over a paint bucket, and my character jumps up, continuously. It's really annoying, and prevents me from actually completing the level since ducking is required throughout. This bug has ruined Half-Life Episode II for me.

I did just install a new keyboard, the Logitech DiNovo, and thought that my be the issue, but I doubt it.

Nah, it's not gonna be the keyboard. I think you've got it down that it's a clipping problem, sent by the Valve gods to smote us.

Sounds most likely to me.

I have it too, the jumpy movement thing. Totally kills me in "Under the Radar". And its definately NOT a hardware problem.

Has anyone found any fixes to this yet?

FIXED!! I downloaded and installed a new video driver (new driver was released on Nov. 6th, for my NVidia GeForce 6800). This was around the same time of the new steam. Usually steam tells me when my driver is out of date, they need to turn that function back on.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLAY ON!

Apparently in the last 4 hours valve patched it so it's fixed for everyone now.
So woodwater, I don't think it had anything to do with your drivers.

Congrats to you all, but something irks me, it's like they seem to be all of the same people?

What? I don't even understand what you're trying to say. If you're saying everyone who posted is the same person, then you're belief is flawed in that valve fixed it in such a hurry (~24 hours), which indicates that it must have been a rather wide spread problem (fixing it for just a few people is not high priority by any means).
And if it's a wide spread problem, that would indicate that there's little reason to believe that everyone who posted here is the same person, because it would make perfect sense for a bunch of people to google this problem and all happen to end up on this site because it's one of the top hits.
