I just got Mozzila Firefox because IE was getting so many pop-ups and crap. Everything works perfectly i have no adware or spyware i scanned it with spybot search and destroy and adware 6.0. However when it loads a site with a few images on it, it takes like 2 times longer to load them then on IE how can i fix this so it loads the images faster.

Hmmm, make sure you have everything properly configured.

Also, you can utilize the cache so that it doesn't have to load the pictures on a site that you go to frequently.

Hmm, I did notice that firefox takes a little longer to load images, but it's not as bad for me as it is for you. If somebody knows how to get rid of this slight annoyance (of which you get used to really fast), it'll be a neat little piece of info. In short, I'm asking the same question.

i have really fast cable (anywhere between 3500k and 7200k) so firefox is a LOT faster for me.

I love Firefox :)

I've noticed that the pictures can take a little longer to load also, but it isn't that big of a difference (with highspeed internet anyway,) so it doesn't really bother me. Are you using a 56K connection?

Here are some values that I found on a forum from doing a search on google. When I entered them into Firefox, I noticed a considerable decrease in page loading time. To enter these in, just type "about:config" in the address bar of Firefox without the quotes. I am using Firefox 1.0PR on a 4.0Mbps connection if anyone is interested.

network.http.pipelining
default value false, change to true

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
default value 4, change to 8

network.http.proxy.pipelining
default value false, change to true

I just found this command that shows images being loaded instead of having a placeholder. It may or may not make a difference, but it is worth a try.

browser.display.show_image_placeholders <-- click on that and change to false in your about:config window

Generally Firefox loads the whole page quicker.
IE seems to load the text quicker but takes a while with pictures from my experience. Those commands help a bit too.

What is probably happening is the images have not been cached yet to be used the next time you go to the site.

.

firefox is so much bettwer

Ba! Any browser is fast on the kinds of connections you guys are talking about! Opera plug. Loads fast (very noticeable on slower connections!), blocks pop-ups, does everything you could want from a browser... :bounce:

/me puts on asbestos hat

I too have recently converted to Firefox on my new system, and I'm enjoying it a lot more than IE. I've heard that for some people, FireFox goes faster than IE for them, but for others it's the opposite. Personally, I haven't notciced much good or bad change in speed.

I think you do have some sort of spyware problem. I have my homepage resetting, pop-ups up the wazoo in IE. I know exactly when it happened too. Anyway, my spybot S&D doesn't pick it up either, neither does AdAware but i know it is there because i watched the website that infect me do its "pup ups and asking browser, windows that don't close right away" infection routine.

I switched to mozilla firefox too, and it doesn't have those problems. but Spybot S&D I think deleted something in windows I need to run AIM! So now whenever I open a chat box in AIM, AIM freezes and shuts down so I have to reinstall windows anyway cuz reinstalling AIM does squat.

I have SP2 and don't have popups. I also have Norton 2004 Pro (Gotta love Kazaa) and dont get spyware n stuff.

Also get all-in-one mouse gestures and adblock. Those are the best extensions!
