alright well i kinda searched the forums but nothin too too hard and i was wondering if anyone knows how to use the MP3 functionality in Steam. hmmm don't have a lot of posts.. maybe i should start posting everytime i read something...

When you are into a game (CS for example), pull up the console(lets say you have made a folder called "Mp3" and you have a song called "11.mp3")
After you have pulled up the console type:
mp3 play /mp3/11.mp3

If its wrong please post here again but i think its the right one (it was a while since i played mp3s in a game).

well i can't seem to get it to work... say i have a folder that's C:/My Shared Folder/Bad Religion/02 - Big Bang... then do i type it just like that?? or do i need quotes around it or what....

thnx for the help btw

good idea Alucard! they should make it Dynamic, like when theres alot of noise like shooting or exploding it makes it louder, and whjen nothings happening it makes it quieter so you can hear someone around you lol :D you hear that ValVe!??? lol:D

You have to move the Big Bang song to the cs/tfc/hl etc. folder and if you like to make a new folder called Mp3 wich is the best way, heres an example:

Make a new folder called Mp3 into the mod folder.
Then copy the "02 - Big Bang" song to the Mp3 folder.
Then you could rename the file to a one word file since it is harder to play it otherwise.
If you dont feel like changing name type this in the console:
mp3 play "/mp3/02 - Big Bang.mp3"

If you changed its name:
mp3 play /mp3/Bang.mp3
I just took Bang.mp3 as an example, you could rename it to 02 (the track) if you like to but then its harder to know what song is wich.

ok ok ok.. thnx a lot guys!! and i hope this helps someone else in the future too heheh

I've just had a thought; the commandmenu thingymoabob is editable, so you could create an mp3 playlist type thing, with like Artist->Album->Track instead of Handsignal->Go Go Go type thing. This would save on typing in the console.

Yeah it is possible, im not to used to being able to edit commandmenu...

I had a go at it, got kinda stuck.
You need to put " " around the command you want to execute when you click on one of the menu button thingys, but you also need to put " " around part of the command (mp3 play "/mp3/02 - Big Bang.mp3" as said earlier) this screws it all up as the 1st " in the command closes the menu button thingy. I've tried to use ' ' but that didn't do anything either. So i'm stumpt as to what to do.

Change the name of the song to something one-worded, like Bang.mp3
So you will only have to type "Mp3 play /mp3/bang.mp3" then it will hopefully work

Login_Here, I love you! I'll make a template and put it up if anyone wnats an mp3 playlist thing in their commandmenu.
