MS A Glimpse Ahead 2019

You just know it's going to be completely different... If we've learned anything from the past, it's that we can't predict the future at all. It'll be either way more advanced, or something different entirely.

Cool to see though of course.

I love how every device runs the same software, and apparently has the same designer with the same color schemes in mind. What they don't show you is one of those ubiquitous transparent displays running a unix shell.

Welcome to propaganda.

I think the video was pretty cool, but also very far fetched. Things like the newspaper and those little cards seem more than unlikely. As does putting those displays on the ground of an immaculately clean airport.(looked like one to me at least) The computers were neat.

An operating system with that much functionality would take forever to create and be the largest resource hog you've ever known. I do like the hands on user interface and the idea of being able to grab stuff on the screen with my hands instead of the cursor.

I especially liked the part where you could keep an eye on your kids at school. As if we don't already have enough surveillance as it is. Loved how "green" everything was as well.

I thought the airport scene was implying that the guy was viewing all of this through his glasses, since you couldn't actually see any of the displays present in the world.

That's a really good point too: with that kind of display technology, you really could just make augmented reality glasses and avoid any kind of displays in the environment -- they could be entirely virtual.

Yea, this is all pretty sweet, but in reality SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM
