My brother just got a new system and we installed WinXP Pro on it yesterday. We set up the DSL to it, and within minutes this MsBlaster worm attacked his system. We had not downloaded one file, much less even looked at a web page. That thing amazed the shit out of me. It's really annoying too. My brother was so frustrated until I showed him how to stop it(it starts a 60 second countdown then reboots your system). It amazes me that some idiot spent hours and hours of his life programming this crap. It amazed me even more that all we had to do was be connected to the internet for it to hit us.

Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and see if you see MSBlast (or something similiar) in the processes list. If you do, close it, and patch windows with windows update.

Yeah, yeah, I already fixed his computer. It took me a while to find the Processes list as I had never used WInXP before, but after I stopped it, it was easy to fix. Thanks for the tip though.

Oh, well it's great that a community can get together and do their own civic duty. It's like this News story I saw just a second ago. The last hurricane that hit Hawaii blew away this liquor store. Luckily they all banded together to keep the flow of alcohol strong by helping to rebuild the store. Shows where their priorities are. They are rehashing all the old Hurricane stories right now because one is supposed to hit us Tomorrow and Tuesday...

I live in Honolulu. The eye of the hurricane is "supposed" to pass 50 miles to the south of us. But, they estimated 3 days ago that it was going to be 150 miles to the south of us. Should be hitting the big island this morning, and be over here on Oahu by Tuesday. I've never been here for a Hurricane, so I have no idea what to expect. Only thing I know is the surf is supposed to be awesome the next couple of days. I won't be going out though
