This is one is really weird. I have changed nothing on my comp since about 2 hours ago when everything was working and connecting fine. All of a sudden my ISP drops my line (not uncommon), and then after a while I reconnect and I can't sign into MSN. Nor can I load msn.com, hotmail, microsoft.com or any other other MS-related site. At the same time, Steam suddenly refuses to acknowledge that I am connected to the net, so all that is available is Offline Mode (=no CounterStrike). Everything else works fine. My comp is also spyware-free.

I know what you're thinking - you're thinking "firewall!" I uninstalled the firewall I was using and still no joy. Remember also that I have changed no settings.

My ISP is Tiscali and yes I really don't need to be told how shit they are. Also - I've had this problem before, and it went away by itself after a few days, pretty much confirming that the problem is not on my end. This time I want to get to the bottom of it and figure out if there's anything I can do to get around what is causing it.

Any uber-guru got an idea what this is about? Is there anything I could be taught about proxy and DNS servers that could shed any light on this issue?

I have done, restarted my whole comp a few times and still no difference.

Heh, well Tiscali's billing department is such bullshit, anything is possible...

I may have forgot to mention that everything apart from MSN, Steam, or microsoft-related sites are working perfectly. That's what makes this problem so damn funky.

Never mind, thanks for the replies but it fixed itself yet again, overnight. Looks like Tiscali playing silly buggers yet again.
